What Will Happen to All the Indie Stars?
Great question~
A paster featuring Curt Cobain holding a Starbucks cup and wearing a Starbucks apron. Pasted up at the corner of Beverly and Fairfax--ironically enough, this corner is the home to the CBS studios and is usually a spot people hit when wanting to get noticed.
In this day and age, with social media merging with mass media, each and every band, person, artist and corporation are all using the same platforms.
Is anything underground anymore?
Is underground even possible these days?

Mug Shots are Earned
"Mug shots are earned". That's what friend of M&F's said recently after getting arrested for street art.
And here is a giant mugshot paster from Bamp getting up on Beverly.
Also riding with a high up tag from Bozoe, who has been smashing all over Los Angeles recently.

The Back Side of a Ballerina
Don't know about the rest of the dudes out there, but when M&F views a ballet, all we are really hoping for is some good butt shots of a sexy ballerina.
Well, no butt shots here, but this is the back side of Lister's dancing ballerina on Beverly.

Golden State Warriors
A giant paster of a basketball player shooting a shot across Beverly.
Dig how the interaction of the shape of this piece compliments the sign itself.
Not sure what this piece is about? The baller is wearing a Golden State Warriors jersey and the ball itself is yellow and blue.

Icy & Sot - Starting at the Finishline
Huge new street art piece from Icy & Sot on Beverly.
The Iran based duo has been really active doing some big pieces around the Hollywood area. This is the biggest mural with a giant runner poised as if to take off running, yet his starting pose is crouched right in front of the finish line.
Dig this series of shots, too. Click the jump for more

Gang Banging Graffiti
When Law Enforcement agencies cite the problems with graffiti, the list vandalism and the gangs.
Most of the time, M&F likes to keep the focus on the art aspect of getting up. We celebrate the interaction of art with the streets, and not needless and useless destruction of property and senseless vandalism. And M&F does not post any gang graffiti on the blog.
Still, many places a person will drive in LA, there seems to be much more gang oriented graffiti than there is from graffiti writers getting up. Last week, Los Angeles got a reminder that there can be a frightening violent element which goes along with gan graffiti.
Two people got shot by another gang member when confronting a graffiti writer in the act. Both of the victims died. And this shooting happend on Beverly Blvd, near Alvarado, which is only 15 minutes away from Hollywood, and a place many people drive by frequently.
When getting up out there, remember to keep it art focused, and be careful of the very real and very violent gang elements that can be out there.
Read the full story below. Be careful. And, Stay Up!
