Everybody DOES Love to Smoke . . .
Everybody does love to smoke . . . but not everybody loves the placement of these new pasters from French street artist Combo.
The pasters are a series of celebrity themed pictures from Combo entitled 'Everybody Smokes' and showing famous people--and famous cartoons, smoking marijuana.
Yes, everybody does love to smoke. But LA has a lot of respect on the streets. And the way that Combo has put up the pasters has really stepped on a lot of toes.
Like here. Combo caps over multiple small but beautiful hand painted pieces from LA stalwarts There She Is and You Killed Me First.
Dig the theme, don't dig the placement. This is actually on the back side of an ebox on Melrose, because most of the ones on the street have been defaced and/or scratched down by now, by artists on the streets, not the buffman.

Seizer is Not Defined By Celebrity Faces
This street art could be considered anti-street art because Seizer rejects the celebrity formula that many street artists, and people, think street art is.
Seizer defines himself in this paster as what he is not. Not a celebrity Not the Beastie Boys, Eminem, or Bob Marley. And he doesn't think your face makes good art.
Well, at least not yet . . . (it says on the bottom).
As if jibing the poster, there is a head from Kashink on the side asking 'Are you sure?'.
Dig it, all the way around. We are sure, street art is art, not celebrity fodder~

New Video and Website for 'X'

Rumors have been swirling that it was 'X' who showed Banksy's crew around town, and up top of the 'Livin the Dream' billboard. We still can't verify that, but what we do know for sure is that 1.) X does hang out with Demi Moore, Susan Surandon, Blake Lively, Cobra Starship and a grip more celebrities, 2.) he has hit seemingly every other rooftop and billboard in LA, and 3.) he just launched his website, 'Thank You, 'X'', which comes with the release of dope new video as well.
We enjoy most street art videos but we have a special appreciation for the ones that are well done, and this Adolfo J Lara is one of the best we have seen. It is more like a 3 minute film than a video, masterfully edited and cut, and in that short amount of time it captures the action and thrill of the streets, as well as the essence of 'X' as a person as he talks about cops, art and his 'thank you' to Andy Warhol.
It has been a thrill to watch X's street career skyrocket as high as the rooftops he climbs. Click the links to find out more about X, and join us in following his career as it shoots even higher~

X has been getting his art out to some really cool places lately, on the streets and into the homes of celebrities.
And some people are going to hate, but that just means you're doing something right . . .
