Eh, Apparently Some People WANT Websites
A short time ago, M&F posted this series of pasters featuring President Obama holding signs supporting the legalization and taxation of marijuana.
Well, Obama still has haters and every single head of his has been torn down. But also, someone else came and wrote on the pieces themselves, saying they support the message, but would like a website for more info.
Guess sometimes folks want websites? But does that ruin the art? How does Banksy's website fit into this discussion?

President Obama - Devil Robot
A triple threat of an Obama Devil Robot pasted up on La Brea.
The Devil Robot is holding up a paper saying that the legalization of marijuana could yield California Taxpayers over 1.2 Billion dollars each year.
Indeed, Obama came in with high hopes (pun intended) after George W. Bush's presidency, however Obama has failed the progressive political base at every step along the way, especially in terms of the legalization of marijuana.
Not sure if this is part of Combo's 'Everybody Smokes' campaign?

No War, Here or There
An anti-war paster saying 'Hands Off Syria!'.
Dig the message. Indeed, the last thing America needs is to get stuck in another quagmire of a war. What they hell is up with Obama and the hawkish war-mongering Democrats anyway?
But here on America's streets, how come these social message posters always manage to cap street art when they get up. As a defender of LA's streets, M&F supports no war, either here or there.
Stay up!

Obamacare is for the Sick
Sickid gets pasted on Melrose over a torn 'diabetes' paster from Fuck.
Then someone came and tagged 'No Obama' up top. Its true. It seems like Obamacare is poised to help insurance companies more than the citizens required to buy into a broken privatized system. Obamacare is not good for 'sick kids'.
Also, on the same box omeone else tagged 'Pussies of the World Unite'. Now, that is something we can all get behind!

The Government is Watching - EVERYTHING!
A major news bomb was dropped yesterday when it was revealed that the US Governement is monitoring and recording literarily every single bit of information that is uploaded onto the internet.
Every email, document, audio file, video file, photograph, phone call and any other activity that is done online is being recorded--and kept, by the United States Government.
This type of data mining is illegal on many levels and demonstrates a blatant disregard for citizen's constitutional right to privacy.
As Julian Assange pointed out earlier this week, these government abuses are happening because the media has allowed it to happen. The mainstream press has failed to check the political realm appropriately, the political realm has run rampant over civil liberties, and now the check and balances balance has fallen out of whack.
This is yet another knock at Obama's administration, which most voters voted into office as alternative to the destructive polices of George W. Bush. However, now in office, Obama has failed the progressive voice time and again, and his big-brother policies have now earned him the new nickmame, and phototshopped photo above--George W. Obama.
And as the Atlantic points out, we have created an incredibly scary environment in America where there is now:
- A precedent that allows the president to kill citizens in secret without prior judicial or legislative review
- The power to detain prisoners indefinitely without charges or trial
- Ongoing warrantless surveillance on millions of Americans accused of no wrongdoing, converted into a permanent database so that data of innocents spied upon in 2007 can be accessed in 2027
- Using ethnic profiling to choose the targets of secret spying, as the NYPD did with John Brennan's blessing
- Normalizing situations in which the law itself is secret -- and whatever mischief is hiding in those secret interpretations
- The permissibility of droning to death people whose identities are not even known to those doing the killing
- The ability to collect DNA swabs of people who have been arrested even if they haven't been convicted of anything
- A torture program that could be restarted with an executive order
So no, this isn't directly related to street art, but it is such an important social issue affecting each and every one of us online, that as an alternative news source trying to keep the balances in check, M&F felt obligated to bring it up.
Knowledge is power, and big government is watching everything you put online. Know this and watch out!

Not Obama, That's Jesus
Faded out sticker that must still be riding from Obama's 1st Presidential Election in 2008.
It says 'Obama is not a foreign born brown skinned anti-war socialist who gives away healthcare.
YOU'RE THINKING OF JESUS'.

Closer Look at Amerika the Beautiful
Closer day time pics of Colur's Amerika the Beautiful mural at Traction.
Even though the progressives have come out on top in this election, it does not seem like it will fix all of America's problems, and 'Amerika' is still under the gun. It doesn't matter which side of the aisle you choose, the people who choose to run for office in politics are more interested in their own agenda then truly helping the American people. But America grows hopeful after each election that things might change. Thank God for the few special ones like Elizabeth Warren!
The entire piece from Colur is hand painted and massive, measuring 12x18.

Amerika the Beautiful
Gigantic new mural from Colur entitled 'Amerika the Beautiful'.
It features Obama and Mitt Romney, each holding a gun to the head of a crying girl in a Disney Mouseketeers cap with the word 'Amerika'. This is entirely hand painted and HUGE! It measures a full 12x18 feet, and this is the biggest unsanctioned hand painted piece that has hit the streets of LA in awhile.
Placed in downtown Los Angeles at Traction. Click the jump for more, including studio shots with the artist

Silly Poor People - Money is for the Rich!
Ouch. A brutal wheat paste saying 'Silly Poor People - Money is for the Rich. Either way We Win, You Lose'.
Even though a rich person would probably never actually be heard say this, the sad thing is that this is what actually happens. The rich get all the money, and the poor get fucked while they scrub the riches tubs, mow their lawns, and vote Democrat or Republican (although one party will fuck the poor much faster!).
The trickle down never trickles down. Happy election season . . .

Mitt = Puppet / Obama = Beggar
New piece from Bumboy WC. Featuring Mitt Romney dancing like a puppet being pulled by strings handing a dollar to Obama looking like a homeless man and begging for change instead of bringing it.
This one cuts both ways, and seems to hit it right on the head. Dig it~

Somebody is Not Voting for Obama This Year
Apparently, this person is fed up with big government, capping an Obama 2008 sticker on (assumably) their own van.
We agree, big government sucks. And both parties suck, but the difference between Democrats and Republicans is that Democrats root for big government social programs that help the people like Social Security, Education, Medicare and Food Stamps (er--or at least Democrats used to).
Republicans, on the other hand, like to raid the public coffers and try to steer money from social programs, and into privatized corporate ventures like big oil tax breaks, rich people tax breaks, the armed services, private schools, and private prisons.
Both parties suck, but M&F would rather see tax money going towards benefitting the citizens and the people, and not lining the pockets of the devious and already filthy rich.
