Pics from Alec Monopoly's L.E.G.E.N.D. Art Show in London

By all accounts Alec Monopoly's first London Show was a big success. The turnout was great and the sales were very strong.

Huge congrats to LA's own Alec Monopoly as he goes international with this big show in London.

Big ups, and take a run past 'Pay Day'~

***Thanks to OverheardAtRunyon for supplying these pics of Alec's show opening in London.***

  4. One (which is much less anonymous of a name), if you take your "jealousy" argument out of the situation and just look at my comment and Alec's work objectively. What exactly is the message?

Right, nothing. Empty pop culture references. The only street art worse than Alec right now is that Thank you Warhol garbage. It's even emptier and Warhol would not be proud of it.

Anyway, I wish them well and hope they earn lots of money selling their work to suckers. You should be well too, Mr One. :)

  5. I need to disagree with the tenor of the Anons. Alec is actually one of the most interesting players in the LA scene at the moment. I've enjoyed watching him DEVELOP - Key word there, "Develop". It's something of a rarity among his peers who find their shtick and run.

Though i agree the "Thank you, Andy /Take my Picture" stuff is tired, Alec's subjects are more relevant than you give them credit for. What symbol could possibly speak more strongly to the incredible economic divide we are all part of in this second gilded age, than the cartoony affluence of the Monopoly Man? A strong dichotomy for an artist who's primary showcase is the street.

Anon, in a landscape riddled with vacuous expressions of "Street Legit" I think Alec is the wrong target for your claims.
