It really is a point worth noting.
The Police are an industry, and interested in their own interests. Not necessarily those of the people.
We say less guns, less tasers, less expensive equipment. Bring in community volunteers. And first and foremost, heavy training in non-confrontational situational handling.
Until then, Fuck the police state.
