  3. Awwww, thankx for comparing me to 2 artists I really like. I'm flattered. Unfortunately, there is no copyright on lettering styles or angry animals...nor is there a law against creating your own versions and style of things you like. I have done lettering and angry animals my whole life and don't plan on stopping because other people are more recognized for it. These images are merely a stop on a long journey of experimentation and exploring and nothing is set in stone....ever. I make art, I can do whatever the fuck I want. You should try it, it's fun.

  4. I'm gonna steal this quote from Jim Jarmusch and place it here.

"Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to."

  7. its one thing to borrow or be inspired but that shit is a blatant poormans version of Retnas font-I dont give a fuck if u respect him or not, you completely bit the style of lettering, poorly, and you bit the actual layout that he does as a background. He would laugh at you if not already. And why are you worth buying if ANYONE could do exactly what you did in a heartbeat. Its non proprietary. Zero value. The successful artists ALL have something unique that they have brought to the table period. Nobody is copying your stuff..hmmm...Why not?..
What are you bringing to the table? Nothing. Might as well start making some posters with a wrestlers face that say LISTEN under it. Virtually the same thing man. Sure-everyone borrows but you straight stole-and thats fine because thats what you will be known for to the people who REALLY know the scene. sorry.

  8. Fuck these haters, Sep. They will never do what you did. Those letters look nothing like Retna and other people draw animals. I can't stand people...-Bloop ONE

  9. Now isn't this expected. Pointing fingers on an up and comer and talking smack when you are obviously unfamiliar with the whole lettering game. Let's see here.

You critics sit and pass judgement on an artist like Septerhed for executing another form of calligraphy that he made his own. That's right, HIS OWN LETTERING.

Calling Septerhed's work a bite off of Retna is so myopic. It's like calling Obey's work a straight copy of the Cold War Communist constructivism movement.

Guess what, all the work is relevant. Your comparisons are based on what's in the public 2011 consciousness. I bet if he did this lettering in the 70's, they would call him a communist. See the similarities here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Plakat_mayakowski_gross.jpg

Interesting how people defame the hard work and call it a Retna bite. Hmmmm.....ever think that you call Retna because it's what's relevant right now? Septerhed took a style that already existed and created a beautiful hand style he can call his own. What is wrong with that?

Truth be told, Ret got his letters from Egyptian hieroglyphics and Chaz, who in turn, pioneered his lettering from straight block Cholo gang letters in the 70s. IMO, this type of artistic growth is necessary and contributes to the entire growth of ANY art movement.

You wanna put down an artist for doing something you don't agree with? You wanna talk history? You wanna chat like you got this whole lettering style on lock down? Please. Get the facts straight, no one invented shit. It's all remixes and revisions based in the artist's personal vision.

Oh and by the way, if you ever want to compare lettering. There are tons of cats out there like Calligraffiti, Usugrow, Reyes, Matox, Parla, Cryptik, Remi, and even el Seed. I guarantee you that you will find similarities amongst all of them. But you would call it a bite, right?

Septerhed smashed it hard. Live with it.

  14. "and you bit the actual layout that he does as a background"....oh you mean the one from every paragraph in history ever? Have you ever heard of a word called "typography"? Google that shit. Btw, thanx for keeping the "unsuccessful biters" on their toes with new and exciting insults, it keeps life fun.

  15. I don't even know why anyone gives these fools the time of day. If these kids really made art, they wouldn't be sitting on a computer groveling over the nuances of like-ness between Sep and everyone else who decides to use a dog head or any other symbol for that matter. I mean, the last time I checked, that's kinda what post-post-modernism was all about... And just as Daft Punk and all the other artists you kids bump in your 'Beats By Dre' ear buds - a rude wake up call is coming when you realize 90% of all of that is repurposed music. Sampled. Nothing is new anymore, just repurposed and reproduced. And while the death of the all-original artist may come as a shock to you, the fact that it happened while you kids were still just a concept of your parent's 1960s flower child romantic trysts, may come as more of a shock. I've said it before on here during the "Septerhed Side Busting" incident, and I'll say it again. Stop your bitching, and make things. Long live Septerhed! -Shark has spoken.
