President Obama is staying at the Beverly Hills Hilton. Which, as it turns out, is directly across from the windows of Shoot First, Inc. and Pay2Play.
Shoot First had a cut out of Free Humanity's LandObama hanging in the window next to a Shepard Fairey Hope poster. Earlier today, President Obama's Secret Service team paid a visit to Shoot First and asked them to take Free Humanity's art work out of the window.
Free Humanity is without a doubt LA's street artist who has had the highest profile run ins with the law. This current episode with Obama's Secret Service follows the LAPD bomb scare caused by Free Humanity's art earlier this spring.
Hahaha wow I don't understand why that would bother them? Go free!

To the hipster above who said "Expressing messages through the form of street art is absolute genius" well not exactly if OBEY used the picture of OBAMA YEARS before FREE Humanity did. Stealing another artist's idea is NOT "Genius". You can't call someone a "Genius" if they're RECYCLING the same fucking ideas another artist used years before. I think that expressing your self through art is great, but don't use the same idea that another ARTIST ALREADY USED over 4 years ago...Free Humanity is a dumb ass because he uses the SAME image as OBEY then puts his lame poster right NEXT to OBEY"s "Hope" poster...First he uses the same Obama image as OBEY, then puts his lame poster next to OBEY's HOPE Poster (which has been around for over 4 years) So you've stolen OBEY's idea then you're gonna spot jock OBEY... First off anon obey stole that photo from Mannie Garcia of The Associated Press and got lots of slack for doing so. and i quote "Fairey admitted that he had based the poster on the AP photograph and had fabricated and destroyed evidence to hide the fact." so THAT'S your genius? sounds like recycling to me and THEN hiding the fact he did it! wow now who's the dumb ass. also that building is not Free's building. ReplyDeleteShepard Fairey was the first person to use a picture of OBAMA (in The Street Art World). Bottom line. OBEY did it FIRST! Free Humanity was NOT the first person to use the OBAMA image therefore, he's lame!! He used Obama's picture YEARS AFTER Shepard Fairey! THAT'S LAME!!

Mark F. is a dumbass. Obvious that Fairey used someone else's picture to make his HOPE poster. But it was what he did with the picture that made it famous. sure he got sued for it blah blah, but he could have used ANY obama picture. Theres thousands of Obama pictures. So the fact that he used it doesnt discredit that he was the first to do Obama artwork for the streets. Dumbass.
