Old Habits Die Hard
Art Walls vs. Murals
This Traction Wall used to be the busiest art wall in Los Angeles. And this particular segment seemed to be the most active of all.
But then, a couple months ago a silly mural featuring some sort of aquatic them was painted over the entire wall. The art was starting to make a come back when Anthony Lister came and painted a new mural, which is what is riding now.
But old habits die hard, and even though there is this mural here, some folks still see this as the art wall, and a wall that they want a piece of. The little spots of life, and what was, can be seen from a tag over the face, and a little 'China' stencil on the left.
Some people might like murals. Nothing against this mural, but we much rather prefer an open art wall where everybody is encouraged to create art and participate. There are plenty of murals in LA, but there was only one art wall. Now there is none . . .
