Chik-fil-A Graffiti: Tastes Like Hate --UPDATE!

The ownership of Chik-fil-A has taken what they believe to be a moral stand against homosexuality, both in interviews and in giving money to groups seeking to undermine the rights of homosexuals.

Liberals have encouraged people not to go there while in return conservatives have rallied to support Chik-fil-A.

Well, early this morning some graffiti got thrown into the mix, when a Torrance Chik-fil-A location got painted with a wall that says 'Tastes Like Hate'.  The graffiti is a clear spoof on Chik-fil-A's advertising campaign featuring cows painting graffiti with sayings like 'Eat more chiken'.

The mainstream news outlets have taken a uniform stance against the 'vandalism', while on the other hand, this is a humorous re-adaption with a pretty accurate accusation calling out out the franchise for some old fashioned bigotry.

Forget the kiss-in, just boycott the place.

***UPDATE:  The Chik-fil-A graffiti artist has stepped forward. The Huffington Post scored an exclusive interview with artist Manny Castro.  Castro is gay and he says  "I'm against what these people stand for, what this company stands for. They're trying to take away what little rights we already have."  Castro also puts the graffiti in perspective saying "It's paint on a wall. It got removed in less than an hour. It's not that much of a crime -- it's a protest."
Followers of M&F might recall Castro from the ruby red slippers in Los Angeles, and the giant bags of cocaine like white powder.  Read the full interview on the Huffington Post Los Angeles.***

  1. Not cool to hit up the side of this building, I'm all for speech and street work, but if your a franchise owner, that cost comes out of your pocket. It's like if someone hit up the side of my house, I'd be pissed!

    2. I agree with you, not totally cool. i love the message but bad placement. Each Chik-fil-a is a franchise and has individual owners who get to make THEIR OWN DECISIONS on the hiring etc. Not all are against homosexuality, just the president. I am all for the protesting I completely agree with that but this owner has to pay to clean that and may not have anything against homosexuality. think first people

    3. during such a huge debate inspired by ignorance doing this to a random store is stupid as pointed out not all stores support the message in fact some stores have been known to support gay rights and even have some involvement in gay pride marches so in an argument over ignorance stop being .ao ignorant

  4. To H, if this Castro guy is so quick to say his damage to the side of this franchise owners business is a protest, cant the words of the owner being against gay marriage be words of protest too? Sounds like a double standard here, one guy can spray paint a building in protest but another guy cant voice his opinion on gay marriage? From the looks of it, the company has only had 11 discrimination lawsuits, and thats a hell of a lot less than other companies of that size, yet these other supposed gay friendly companies have more lawsuits? Seems like you guys just hate speech that doesnt come from your mouth. This is a speech issue, not a hate issue.

    1. Really? If you can't see the difference between a rich business owner with a lot of money spending it to try and take away other people's rights and spread bigotry, and someone protesting against that bigotry, then you are sadly simple minded.
And if you defend a stance like the business owner you are probably bigoted too. Three cheers for Castro!

  5. I support this activism. Sure, we all understand the concept of individually owned and operated, but how far does the franchise apple fall from the corporate tree?

Money from every single dollar of every single franchise is going to support a hate agenda. Take a stand. Boycott bigot-spreading businesses!

  6. franchise apple fall from the tree? sounds like those who argue that gay parents will raise gay children. Can't fight hate with stupidity. As for the business, you should look it up, they do more for their surrounding community than so called "pro gay" businesses, if there is such a thing. Shit they even close on Sundays, so it isn't always about the dolla bills yall! lol. And even though they close on Sundays because of their faith, I bet those fucken workers don't mind, even if they aren't going to church. Remember, he stated his opinion, not the opinion of the companies hiring practices.

  8. As a street artist, I am against vandalizing storefronts or small business owners.

Yet in this context with Chick-Fil-A, I think this is what street art is for.

  9. I agree, why does not believing in gay marriage all of a sudden make you a horrible person? Oh and ^, what you just said makes no sense...this is a small franchised business, why the ceo's beliefs opens up the window for artist to fuck up this guys building who in all fairness no one knows what this guys belief is, is fucked up. I'd hate to be attacked because of someone elses beliefs.

    1. Being against gay marriage makes you a bad person because, unless you are gay, it is not your decision. And if you are still against it, it is just your bigotry making you feel that way. That's why you are a bad person.

Gays should be free to marry just like straight people.

After all, people hate to be attacked because of someone else's beliefs. Right?

    2. ^^^ "After all, people hate to be attacked because of someone else's beliefs. Right?"
So why are the stupid idiots attacking these frachise owners? If you dont want people to attack gays, then dont attack people for being anti-gay. Listen to your own words.

    3. ^somehow, attacking bigotry is more nobel than attacking people who just want to get married

  11. if this is wrong, then when IS it right?
The art is the message, and no other "canvas" would send the message quite as strong.
(not to mention this business uses graffiti aesthetics to SELL food.)
