MELROSEandFAIRFAX on Forbes

Street art is really blowing up, and MELROSEandFAIRFAX just got interviewed by Forbes magazine. The Forbes magazine.

The article wasn't about us. We just added some minor commentary to a piece about 2wenty's Facebook Cigarettes, and their role as "quick hit commentary on our increasing dependence and social media".

It is a very well written article by Kashmir Hill, and well worth a read for not only its relevance to street art, but for addressing some concerns related to social media.

Even though 2wenty is new to street art, he has earned all of this attention that he has gotten. The piece is not necessarily a beautiful piece of art, but it is a brilliant social commentary and it has really struck a nerve in this social media addicted world. And the fame and instant success that 2wenty has got is just another example of the direct impact and feedback one receives from putting art on the streets. As 2wenty has said, "I never said I was good. I just wanted to play." But the irony is rich, because if he weren't this good, things wouldn't have played out so well~

It is a huge honor contributing to Forbes, and this unlikely pairing just goes to show how broad the reach of street art is.

Thanks to Kashmir for the interview, and big ups to 2wenty for his having such a socially significant piece that is receiving strong reactions, both in the community and even in the main stream media.

Big congrats. Stay up~
