G.E. Sponsored Street Art . . . Er . . . Ads
We have said it many times before, and we believe the biggest threat to street art is not the cops, or buffing, but corporations putting ads in the streets. It will drown out the art and lead to all kinds of new regulations.
This is a prime example. For some unknown reason, NBC thought that it would be a good idea to place stickers and stencils on the streets hyping the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Its ridiculous for a few reasons, perhaps mainly because a successful marketing campaign will market to the target audience and no one on the streets gives a crap. Market this junk to the potatoes in front of their TV's.
And somebody did some funny stuff when they collected a few stickers and call out G.E. for their street art, er, street ads.
