No Political Art at MOCA

Free Humanity asks, 'Where's Blu?'.

Free Humanity hits MOCA with hand made stickers and a hand made shirt asking, 'Where's Blu?'

The stickers say have a 'no' or 'not allowed' sign around the words 'Political Art by, MOCA'.

The pictures are taken in front of the MOCA museum and are very well done by Chris Listak. (Look how it appears like Free is holding the feathers!)

At least there is room for political art on the streets~

  1. You have managed to show street artists what they use to do it for.

  3. Hey dummy- don't cap tags with stickers.

  4. Free Humanity is about as much of an artist as Mr. Brainwash is. The sticker looks like crap and he is trying to piggy back the show for publicity. It's bad enough this kid saw Exit through the gift shop and became inspired to be an artist too, seriously star wars has been over done for year. Free Humanity do us all a favor, make something original, that would be a headline in itself.

  10. This guy posted about how horny he was to go to this show on facebook but then when he gets there he's too cool for school and disses it? That's like getting excited to go to a Justin Bieber concert but when you get there you're all like... pshh Bieber, fuck this show..

  14. This BLU debate needs to stop. Its months ago now. Its done! People complaining about is just making the whole culture look stupid. People screaming outside MOCA on opening night are wasting their time and energy.

Yes! THE SCENE IS FLOODED!! Melrose is just a sensory overload! There is more than one street in LA! Most of the people pasting things up on Melrose are just looking for quick fame. "Get Blog Famous!" Others are out there really trying to do something cause they enjoy it i.e. Alec, ThankYouAndy(X), Free Humanity, Dog Byte, Bankrupt Slut. And those people should be commended for their love and determination.

  15. I kinda wish there wasn't so much discussion about Free Humanity, but I guess I'm going to have to chime in. I don't think his artistic style has matured enough to warrant much of a discussion, and the use of somewhat cliche (and often corny, e.g.: boba fett chicken from family guy) imagery often leaves me rolling my eyes. I really enjoyed the work he was creating early on, before the sloganism and Star Wars stuff. He's a young artist, and he has drive to put stuff up in public, so gotta give him props for that. I just hope he really considers the content he's producing as he develops further, and maybe reads up on semiotics a bit.

Yes, I am one of his flickr followers, and YES, it is apparent that he is interested in showing work in galleries and selling stuff he doesn't make specifically for the street. Do I hold it against him? Not really, as who wouldn't want to make a living through their art. Doesn't mean I'm gonna buy any of it, though.

On a side note, I wonder how many people who are putting content up on melrose or in the arts district actually work/live in those areas... or if they just do it because they expect it to be higher profile and an area where street art is appreciated.

  17. He's definitely finding his groove. Gotta respect that he's got beliefs and has the balls to actually put stuff out there.

He won me over with his LandObama. My Mom has that as her desktop background on her work computer now.

  18. I live on Melrose NO ONE was on the street before Alec & Free Humanity
The made Melrose a wonderment of Color and thought Now it sucks all these new guys have a serous lack of color and thought
Alec & Free Humanity are the Best street artists in L.A next to Dog byte and cryptic that is

  19. Landobama is awesome even if star wars is played out. He is young and coming into a style, i will agree it needs some refinement but why ever shit on someone making art, it is just pointless, any art is good art if it comes from the right place.

  20. WHAT NO ONE HAS EVER MADE STAR WARS STREET ART
THIS GUY IS A PIONEER & A REVOLUTIONARY

ALEC & THIS GUY FREE ARE THE BEST

HOW IS UT PLAYED OUT WHEN NO ONE HAS DONE IT?

HIS STYLE IS THE MOST ORIGINAL OUT THERE LOVE those lil multi colored squares

  21. Phil you have to be joking when you say he is a pioneer and that nobody has done Star Wars themed street art. I couldn't even count how many have done it and much more clever than Free has. Until he brings something original or at least half clever, he has done nothing.

  22. There were stencils, tags, wheate paste ALL OVER Melrose for as far back as I can remember, By artists like skullphone, Restitution press, Haunted Euth, TSF, BuffMonster, and MBW to name a few, this whole idea that Free Humanity and Alec created Melrose is a bit of a joke,

I guess Free Humanity also invented the Internet, as well as this blog, and all of our ideas,

He has never created anything original, and probably never will, I can name a source for every single one of his pieces I've ever seen

  23. MBW brought color yes but not like Alec and Free
