Kidult Bombing of Mr. Brainwash Wall is a Scam
Fake fame. What a joke.
The Kidult video showing a purported 'illegal' tag of Mr. Brainwash's wall is a set up and a scam.
The Kidult video, released by Kidult himself, is being billed as an unsanctioned bombing of MBW's wall in Los Angeles. Complete bullshit. MELROSEandFAIRFAX had a contributor at the wall that day planning to photograph Cope2 hitting up the MBW wall, and not only did Mr. Brainwash give Kidult permission to hit the wall, but he was standing to the side watching the whole thing being filmed.
In our contributor's own words:
Mr. Brainwash showed up with a bunch of French guys. 3-4 guys filming, Mr. Brainwash, and this one guy who wore a skull face mask. The guy wearing the face mask was the one who did the huge pink paint extinguisher piece. I couldn't make out his name, maybe you can help me with that? Mr. Brainwash asked me not to photograph the process of the pink paint tag. He then told me when I could shoot and posed for me in a few shots. It was quite a thing to see live. Eventually the French crew bailed, except for MBW, who then brought Cope out from the studio to begin work on the wall.
This has got to be one of the lamest things we have seen in a long time. A lot of people have criticized MBW for essentially fabricating a career in the art world. And the fact that Kidult is capitalizing on MBW's fake fame to make his own faked fame is a fantastic joke.

ANOTHER FAKE ILLEGAL SPRAYER TAG FROM THIS DOUCHE. HERE IS ONE IN PARIS HE TRIED TO PAWN OFF AS BEING "ILLEGAL" AS WELL: http://www.flickr.com/photos/vitostreet/5424332896/
ReplyDeleteAt least we really dissed him, no fake permission walls, and 2 camera men. Here is a real shot at MBW, no permission, and no fruity wrong way jogging into a parking lot... http://vimeo.com/17487061
What's the difference between fabricating notoriety through events and fixed perspective documentation, and artists simply networking with people in media, academia, curators, critics, and the like to build up the value of their work? Is one really more fake than the other?
ReplyDeleteThose b&w tiny 8.5x11 wheat paste's are just as lame. I dont think this is too lame of MBW unless he starts some kind of beef type thing, he agreed to let them get up on his wall, it is just lame that they made it seem like a diss. Either way it is just hype and that seems to be required these days because pure talent is never enough. MBW, his crew, or whoever, put up more often than not some beautiful images so i for one am glad he exists.
ReplyDeletedoes this boost YOUR credibility? skate don't hate! -ir
ReplyDeleteYes, this DOES boost your credibility. Thank you for the exclusive and interesting coverage.
ReplyDeleteEven if it was REAL, it would still be LAME.
ReplyDeleteMy friends and I thought we would perform our own little piece at the Mr. Brainwash Icon Remix Exhibit. All was good and well until we got kicked out. Warning: Hot pink spandex and a fake penis ahead...Oh la la
