Spark It Up!
Street art is not dead. Even if walls have become cluttered, it forces artists to take it to the next thing and the next level.
KH no. 7 does exactly that, as she took her spark plug images off the flat 2d format, and introduces the 3d version. This installation features a dozen or so differently colored spark plugs that have been strung together on a string and then hung from a tree.
Its a beautiful, colorful installation, and its home is right out front of Portfolio 360 on Melrose, who have been big supporters of the local street art scene. The owner, D, told us that it is being taken care of and it is 'well-watered'. Good stuff~
Hopefully this will not cause any sort of alarm, as did Free Humanity's 'Forbidden Fruit', the last piece of public art to be hung in a tree. But since this clearly has no sort of implied trigger or such like device, hopefully it can be appreciated for what it is, cool 3d art.

I remember a certain someone telling me about this! Came out great!
ReplyDeleteIf this is street art, then the Chinese invented street art thousands of years ago!
ReplyDeleteWith a little water, they'll be just fine...trust me!
ReplyDeleteon a string and then hung from a tree.
ReplyDeletesounds familiar
Digging it!
ReplyDeleteCould make comment about 'on a string and then hung from a tree.' posted by the ever elusive June 1, 2011 11:04 AM saying 'Yeah, Christmas.' but that would imply even more negativity towards the awesomeness that this post is inherently about. And that would be that kh no. 7 has thought about something that June 1, 2011 11:04 AM has not even begun to think about until after the Thanksgiving Day Holiday.
What does this mean?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the support guys :) This was a long time coming. Just put out accross from 33rd.
