GoneMOCA just got up all over LA with an installation of 100 hand painted cubes.
These are highly collectible and most get taken soon after being discovered. Placed from Malibu to Melrose, keep your eyes peeled for Gone's boxes, before they are gone.~

Eh, Maybe a Little Less Permanent and Prominent
Getting up on the streets is all about finding your groove in a crazy scene. There are no rules, but there are certain ways of doing things. It is said there is a code of conduct among thieves. Well, vandals have their own set of unofficial rules.
One is that you don't cap over something. And another less common rule might be -- don't plaster permanent shit on buildings. At least not when you are starting out.
Like here. First of all, props to anyone who is doing art, but there is a difference between street art and elementary art. This looks like a play-doh project from 2nd grade--that now got permanently affixed to this wall on Melrose. Sure, going over tags is poor form, but in the long run, even if this wall gets buffed, the clay is much harder to get off.
M&F has always been a fan of anyone getting up, but also a supporter of doing it the right way. Sure, there is a place for this whale. There is a place for everything. Find your groove. But it is not here, on this wall. Maybe a back alley, or a quaint little corner. Then it would be charming, instead of annoying.
Stay up~

Teacher & Chod - The Church of 'None of This is Real'
This Sunday, make good use of your time. Don't go to traditional church. That place is full of small minded haters.
Instead, come join Teacher and Chod at the Church of 'None of This is Real'.~ Its the only church M&F will be found worshipping at!
The God from the Bible says "Thou shall place no false idols before me", but this piece is worth worshipping. Seriously, check this out! This installation is a giant--large enough for a human to walk into. This thing is solid, because it is made out of wood. And even though the walls look red, the under layer is composed of actual pages from the Bible.
These pictures have the Church situated in front of the light pole installation at LACMA. Why? Because this is true art.

These cubes from GONEMOCA have been getting up all over Los Angeles and Ventura for some time now. The boxes were already highly collectible with rabid fans snatching them off the streets.
But GONE just upped the ante, adding a tiny hand drawn scroll to each new box. GONE calls these new pieces 'Messages in a Bottle Cube'.
Dig it. Click the jump to check out more process pics and keep your eyes peeled to the streets for more!

The Streets are Always Changing - and Here's Proof!
The streets are always changing, and here is on-the-street proof of how quickly things change.
This picture was taken of a parking sign in Silverlake. There is a wooden heart from Korsen affixed to the pole, and also some other stickers.
One of the stickers lower down on the pole is a picture of a photograph that was photographed of the exact same location. It was printed out, and then brought back to this exact location. Which is cool in its own way. And it got even cooler when another huge sticker from Shie 47/Serch went up, demonstrating with street proof how the streets are always changing.

THIS is Street Art
What is it? We don't know, either. But it is a fascinating piece and the mystery makes it even more intriguing.
This might be atypical street art, but as street art, it is very successful in that it causes people who see it to think about the piece, puzzle over it, and forever look at buildings in a different way after.
Spotted in downtown Los Angeles.
Dig it. Stay spiky and stay up!

Teacher M&F Exclusive - How & Wow
When people usually come across a street art piece from Teacher, they usually say something along the lines of 'Wow'.
And since Teacher is always pushing the boundaries of street art and literally inventing new ways to get up, it is always exciting to see how Teacher creates his pieces.
Here is an M&F exclusive of the behind the scenes look of how Teacher's ginormous oversized e-box was made.

Teacher Goes BIG Mixing Street Art & Hollywood
This piece is so Hollywood.
Street artists go big all the time, and at some point nearly every street artist will put art on an electrical box, but this is the biggest any street artist has ever gone on an electrical box. Its the biggest ever, because Teacher constructed a 33% larger size model e-box.
It is hard to tell from the above pic (although the ones below have better size comparison), but this box is HUGE. It stands about 7 feet tall and its girth is big all the way around.
It is said that the electrical boxes are the billboard canvases for street artists in LA, and the root of this piece is so Hollywood, because Teacher composed this box and painted it green to serve as a 'green screen'. Teacher says that the giant e-box is meant to show support for artists in the Visual Effects Solidarity International--these are the guys who create all the special effects in the movies using a green screen. Teacher used a power box to show the power of VFX in the movies.
Teacher hopes that this box will serve as a green screen blank canvas for artists and get decorated on the street. Also notice how the giant e-box is fully functional, and the doors open to reveal the art still riding on the original e-box underneath.
Yet another unique and impressive piece from Teacher.
Dig it. Stay up!~
