Park(ing) Day
Came up on an unusual scene on 3rd Street in Los Angeles today. In a parking space on the busy street, instead of a car, there was a little garden. There were two of them on this block, and it turns out that these are part of an annual event called Park(ing) Day.
Parking Day is an annual event where parking spots are taken over in hopes of creating awareness about greenery and green living. The parenthesis is around the ing to signify that this space is turned into a park. We dig it, because it does get people to look at things in a different way, and for a day, a parking space becomes art.
It looks like a cool event. After telling us about what it is, the lady running it even hooked us up with a little plant of romaine lettuce to take home. Parking Day seems to be working--it got us to stop and ask what it was all about.
Dig it. Stay parked, and stay green~
