Some Artists Get Offered Walls, Other Artists Have to Claim Them
Once you reach a certain status in the art world, some artists start to get offered walls. It is usually a compliment based on the skill or reputation the artist has built.
Other artists don't get offered walls. They don't get offered walls, so they have to claim them. In general, the art might not be as detailed, but the unsanctioned stuff is far more exciting.
Here is a great example of the clash of cultures. Down below, murals from Cyrcle, Yoskay Yomomato, and Dabs Myla ride strong. Meanwhile, up above on the rooftop, organic graffiti bombs from Phels, Dsok and Bust(?) are fighting to hold onto their spots, as the Phels pieces says beside it 'Fuck the Buff!'.

A Reminder of the Difference Between Public Murals and Graffiti
This is an awesome mural from How & Nosm and Dabs Myla. And it just got bombed to the side with a graffiti fill in from HOFK.
Some folks might not like the placement, and some might even call this spot jocking. But the new graffiti piece does go up on the side of the mural, not covering anything.
Beyond that, the illegal graffiti bomb, risking life, limb and imprisonment just to paint that spot, well, it serves as a reminder about the difference between public murals and graffiti. Both share public art space, but the spirit is different.
Stay up~

Parker - The Movie
The reason that M&F got invited to the Playboy Mansion was for a premier screening of Parker - The Movie.
As part of the promo for the film starring Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez, the film sponsored an art contest called 'Art of the Heist'. This party was also to honor the finalists of the artists who participated in the contest.
Because the film has not yet been released, M&F was required to sign a non-disclosure agreement to not reveal any details about the film. But let us just say that if you dig action flicks, and we do, then you're gonna dig Parker.
