Everybody Smokes (But Must Remain Inside the Smoke Box!)

Which brings up to question many concerns about the legalization of marijuana.  If marijuana is made legal, will it be like smoking where all kinds of rules, regulations, and 'designated areas' are set up to allow you to puff your stuff?

Sounds lame.  In fact, all of the anti-smoking laws are bullshit.  M&F is a non-cigarette smoker, but we strongly believe that each individual restaurant, place of business, or apartment complex should be able to decide for themselves whether they want to allow indoor smoking.  If people don't like it, they will go to a non-smoking spot.  That's the free market, right?

And the government's excuse that they are trying to protect us from second hand smoke is a sorry one. There are plenty of better, less intrusive ways to make the public safer.  How bout starting with chemical particulates in plastic water bottles?  Or banning fracking?  Or coal power plants?  Or stronger auto emissions regulations? How bout genetically modified foods?

Legalize marijuana.  Don't bureaucraticize it.

Eh, Apparently Some People WANT Websites

A short time ago, M&F posted this series of pasters featuring President Obama holding signs supporting the legalization  and taxation of marijuana.

Well, Obama still has haters and every single head of his has been torn down.  But also, someone else came and wrote on the pieces themselves, saying they support the message, but would like a website for more info.

Guess sometimes folks want websites?  But does that ruin the art?  How does Banksy's website fit into this discussion?

Everybody Doesn't Beat Up Girls

This one features Chris Brown.  Why in the world would you feature someone like Chris Brown?  He's not the cool-James-Dean-type-bad-guy.  Chris Brown is the anti-role model.  Not everybody beats up girls . . .

Shit, M&F loves smoking marijuana.  But if Chris Brown does it, that's enough to make us want to stop.

Also notice how these posters from Combo are capping everything on the wall.  Yes, it was messy before.  But this is just pure disrespect.

LA has its own positive role models and street art.  And everybody is already smoking.  So when is Combo going back to France?

Wake N' Bake

Another paster up on Melrose as part of French street artist Combo's LA campaign 'Everybody Smokes'.

Because many of these pasters capped over local art when they went up, they keep getting defaced.  It is clear that Combo has tried to hold down locations by putting up new pasters, but even the new ones have been crossed out and drawn on.

Everybody DOES Love to Smoke . . .

Everybody does love to smoke . . . but not everybody loves the placement of these new pasters from French street artist Combo.

The pasters are a series of celebrity themed pictures from Combo entitled 'Everybody Smokes' and showing famous people--and famous cartoons, smoking marijuana.

Yes, everybody does love to smoke.  But LA has a lot of respect on the streets.  And the way that Combo has put up the pasters has really stepped on a lot of toes.

Like here.  Combo caps over multiple small but beautiful hand painted pieces from LA stalwarts There She Is and You Killed Me First.

Dig the theme, don't dig the placement.  This is actually on the back side of an ebox on Melrose, because most of the ones on the street have been defaced and/or scratched down by now, by artists on the streets, not the buffman.
