Free Humanity Cloaks Mar

When we first saw and blogged about Free Humanity cover up of Mar's lady out front of De La Barracuda, we thought, "why the fuck would he do that?!"

Apparently, it was not a street battle or going over at all, but an unofficial collab between the two artists. It is some sort of commentary on the over-sexualization of women in America.

The material Free put over Mar's lady was not a wheatpaste, but actual fabric that easily fell to the ground a few days later. The fabric can be seen on the ground in front of the box in the second pic.

(Our two cents is that the problem in America is not with over-sexualizing women. Most countries allow straight nudity on television and billboards, and have less sex-related crime. The problem is American's handling of sexuality, which is rooted in our guilt-based Puritanical Christian heritage. We believe that the solution to the problem will come when we can accept the human body as beautiful, not dirty. And when we can talk about sex openly instead of in hushed tones, everything from abuse to childhood pregnancy would see major improvements. To get there, we need more nudity and sex, not less~)

  2. Over-sexualization? Oh hell no. It is about showing that under that oppressive Muslim garb is a beautiful woman, which is something that should be praised, not hidden.

I personally believe the US is waaaaay too up tight about nudity and sex. Hence the girls hit the streets showing the power of a woman. They highlight this lack of openiness that should exist when it comes to discussing sex. It is also aimed at shocking those tight-asses that still take a semi-clothed woman to be sexist or offensive.
