^Hanging out at the Sunset Marquis. This is how we roll~
Big things have been happening for MELROSEandFAIRFAX, both for the blog and with the community. Click the jump below to find out what we've got on tap
Big things are happening for MELROSEandFAIRFAX, and the street art community in Los Angeles~
First off, we are currently collaborating on two separate street art-based television programs, which is really exciting for the blog.
Secondly, to celebrate the feverish street art feeling that has swept through the community in LA, we are going to do a few things to get everyone involved. We have two big things participatory things planned, we want to organize the biggest piece of street art in the world. More details to come! And also, we are going to launch new 'Street Art Walks' where we will give guided tours of the street art so that viewers can enjoy street art in person, learn a little more about each piece, and the stories surrounding it. More info soon~
But perhaps the most exciting news is that after curating the streets for such a long time, MELROSEandFAIRFAX have been booked to curate our first art show, and we couldn't ask for a better situation. We will launch our first art show in late May at the Maximillian Gallery inside the world famous Sunset Marquis.
As we have learned in the world of street art, placement is paramount, and the Maximillian Gallery is located in a prime position right in the heart of Hollywood's movers and swingers. According to Wikipedia the Sunset Marquis is where the biggest names and hottest movie stars stay. In the five minutes we were in the lobby, we recognized Todd Bridges and one other movie star who we don't know his name! The exposure of street art to big names should be huge during this show, and we couldn't be more thrilled.
We are really excited about this and it is an honor working with gallery owner and curator Caradoc. Caradoc has an impressive and storied career in marketing matched with a lifetime spent in the world of art. His marketing genius teaming up with the street art movement now and its ever-growing popularity couldn't be more timely.
We have got a fresh angle for the show and will put street art out there in a way that has not been done before. We don't mean to boast, but this show is going to be monumental~
Stay tuned . . .
