Mr Brainwash at the top of the art world in LA right now. All these other money-hungry artists only wish they could reach his level. None of them have any talent anyways, so no point in bringing that up. I mean, what does a picture of "The New Wife" throwing up the middle finger have anything to do with ART? Nothing.
brainwash may have helped settle Revok's debts, but going around capping other amazing artists with a chili peppers ad is the wrong way to go about doing it. you'd think mbw would know the rules of the game by now...
chili peppers actually have more claim to the melrose fairfax area than most. Fairfax High OGs. Respect is the first rule-it trumps EVERYTHING else. Los Angeles is a deeply connected and proud city artistically due to lifetimes of relationships made here that span multiple art and social subcultures. Its where real networking was born. Knowledge of these connections and one's context in this deeply rooted town are essential to one's success here. Thats real. The rules are not always so black and white unfortunately. Not trying to be a dick-just tellin it like it is and has been for many years here. peace.
so sad that you guys just refuse to understand the REALITY here-keep pretending you are on the same playing field as MBW and waste ur time-but know this- Careful who you go after-I dont think u guys are aware or ready for the repercussions here, There's a lot of keyboard courage on this blog and I doubt most of you could actually back up your statements. You are offending hardcore players who arent part of some new found trend, Theyve got history and backup and they play for keeps. Stop encouraging this false sense of entitlement-you guys are very new to this-calm down and stop hating on success-which you have yet to achieve. No disrespect just pure and honest reality.
so, if you have connections and have been on scene for longer than others that gives you free reign to do whatever the fuck you want? MBW gets paid-good for him, couldnt be happier for the guy but does that give him a free pass to go destroy other work?
sadly, this is becoming more like the world today, where if you have money, power or connections-you can do whatever you want and get away with it... fuck all to the rest.
if he hooked up REVOK, cool! sadly I dont have any money to donate other than a few bucks, so I guess anybody that donated more than me should go over all my stuff. street rules are simple, show respect and dont be an ass, and now we have to factor in politics and "who is who" and "who has done what" shit? fuck that. i dont care how big you are, how many shows you have had or how many times you have photoshopped a can of campbells soup, show respect and dont go over other peoples work-especially with an AD that you are getting PAID to put up. bunch of mindless lemmings that follow this guy, hero worship at its finest and now you are gonna follow him off the cliff.
You do not make the rules-they already exist and go ahead and tell some banger who has a gun to your head that "this wasnt in the rules"-see how that works out for you. Then u will understand that this is not playtime. Willing to die for this? Thats how a lot of them treat this-not me but I know many who would. You can deny it all you want-just tryin to help you guys understand how it is-it hasnt gotten super ugly yet but dont be the example-please. it wont be good for anyone. 30 years folks-Ive lasted in this game this long for a reason. And yes, the history of this culture will include MBW and not you, sir. Done deal. Peace.
If all artists wanna claim the streets so bad, then why do they do Gallery shows? Because they want to reach the level that MBW is already at. Obvious, all these so called "hardcore" guys only wish they could reach that level of success. If they were so "street" and "hardcore", they wouldnt want to be in galleries and money off their work so bad. With their little websites and paintings. If yorue street, fuck a gallery, if youre in galleries, then youre not "hardcore". MBW and OBEY are in a league of their own, all all these "hardcore" street artists would trade their sorry little lives for it.
Sorry...this is all just a bunch of piss-shitting.
Fuck all of your "rules".
If you throw shit up on the street, relinquish your tiny little egos of whoever the fuck goes over it. It will eventually be:
1) gone over by another artist 2) buffed by the city
Street art is not an exhibition of permanence. You relinquish your rights to any "rules" when you decide to place your art on a canvas that isn't yours to begin with.
Hey, I'm just speaking for myself. Go over my shit all you want. I get high from the process, not the end result.
I understand the consequenses that might occur if you go over someone, especially graff or tags. i doubt anthony kiedis is gonna pull steel on anyone for going over one of their ads haha. growing up I learned all bout that, for sure. but I wouldnt place this scenario on the same page as someone capping graffiti or gang tags, its fucking melrose. but you do highlight a big point, and that is that some of these kids dont take seriously, or dont understand at all the way shit can get sideways fast.
wow there are a lot of uneducated kooks on here. probably 16 year olds who catch toy stickers in back alleyways.
First of all MBW bought his way into the game. He put of thousands of dollars of his own money to put on an artshow not to mention he owns a lot of property on melrose and around LA where he puts up these gigantic murals "Legally" with as much time as he needs. And on top of that the actual mrbrainwash doesn't even bomb anymore he has a bunch of footclan members that he pays to put up the posters. Many of which are artschool fags who dont understand the rules of graffiti or street art. And the funniest part of it all is that mbw himself doesn't actually paint or do graphic design, he has a full art squad but he actually doesn't do any of it himself.
its sad cause you guys think he is so "true" to the game....
Winning!
ReplyDeleteBrainwash single handedly pretty much covered Revoks debt with his print today what has bankrupt slut done bought a t shirt wow way to help out

And may I add...
ReplyDeleteThe only "rule" is the common sense of not going over some MSx3 tag with a shitty paster in the wrong hood at the wrong time.
But that's just fucking common sense...
Oh wait..is it?
