Obey Does a 'Free Humanity 'Grenade Apple' Print?
Obey just released this picture of an upcoming print on his Facebook Page.
The teaser shot shows a hand picking a grenade out of an apple tree with apples hanging above the grenades.
The print seems to be commentating on the drama that went down when Free Humanity's piece of street art, a grenade apple, had the bomb squad called out to have it removed from downtown Los Angeles.
Not sure that this the theme for this piece indeed Free Humanity's 'Forbidden Fruit', but with the apples and grenades hanging from a tree, it sure does seem to suggest so.
Perhaps Shepard Fairey relates to the trouble with the police, as he has had his own troubles with the law. Cool piece from Obey capturing that interesting moment in the world of street art. Will keep an eye on this one for more info.

Respect to Free Humanity! How many other street artists have inspired Shepard Fairey? Not many...
ReplyDeletemust be a coincident
ReplyDeletedoubt obey even knows who Free Humanity is
Enough already!! This print has nothing to do with Free Humanity. I doubt Shep even knows who free humanity is. Those are cherries not apples. This print was being created a long time before the free humanity bomb squad situation.
ReplyDeleteMore like the other way around Free Humanity rips of Shep
ReplyDeleteIf your gonna say that obey is ripping off FH then you have to admit that fh is ripping off obey. Personally you got to be digging kinda deep to say Obey is ripping of FH.... I mean come on. really???!
