Artist Spotlight - Maggot
The first street piece from Maggot was an amazing alleyway piece featuring a fish with teats, nursing a bunch of little fish. It was so wild, so different and a real breath of fresh air from what is usually found on the streets that it immediately put Maggot on our radar.
Maggot has continued bringing his fresh aesthetic to the streets, and he has earned a name as one of the strongest artistic voices currently on the streets of Los Angeles.
Maggot recently invited M&F over for a studio tour, and it was really incredible to see Maggot's gallery work. Maggot's work features bold themes many of which juxtapose and confuse powerful social ideas, like sex and motherhood, or sex and old age. One of our favorite pieces was a sculpted vagina with nails poking out of it.
It was a great opportunity getting to take in some of Maggot's work. We believe this artist is heading big places and look forward to watching Maggot's career develop.
Stay up. Suckle, suckle~
