Mr. Brainwash - Wrapped Up in Red Tape

Mr. Brainwash is back in Los Angeles, and he said that he would have liked to already open 'Art Show 2011', if it weren't for all the red tape!

Mr. Brainwash told M&F this afternoon that he would have liked to open 'Art Show 2011' already, if it weren't for all the hassles dealing with the red tape. He said that every time he finishes one thing, the city code enforcement comes in and wants to fix another. "I'm not moving in here. I just want to throw a party!" he said.

MBW said that this has been a much bigger enterprise than he expected when he started. But, he is still committed to making the art show happen. He has a cool idea for opening the show, but he wants to wait and make sure that everything is fully set in place before he makes the announcement. So, no announcement yet, but for real, it should be coming soon!

Thierry actually looked really worn out and run down, like he had been working really hard. Still, it was impressive to see him turn on the charm when he graciously agreed to pose for a photo and put a big smile on his face for a picture. And MBW earned some super cool bonus points in our book when he asked to hold Shasta's leash in the picture.

Stay up~

  1. Sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me. He obviously didn't have any problems making a ton of money from Google with they did their music launch there.

  3. you have all been HAD! as stated above, he certainly had no problems getting a bangin party put on for google, but now he cant get a simple show together??? he just EXPLOITED every artist that put shit up in there, he used you all to have a cool spot for a google party. think about it, if he had come out and said "hey guys, i am going to throw a huge private party for a giant corporation and you cant go, but i want you to labor and create art and put it in my warehouse so it looks good" he would have been shunned, but no, he uses the fake art show to get all of LA's panties wet and everyone and their mom flood in to put up their work and now we know, nothing will ever come of it.

    SHAME on brainwash.

  5. I don't understand why everyone is so upset. Did you loan him your Monet? It's just spray paint and wheat paste. No one who went in there knowingly got duped for anything. If he does the show great, if he doesn't who gives a fuck. He gave me a wall, I hit it. I give 1000 times more pieces to the street ALL THE TIME.

I think people are getting maybe a little bit too serious about it.

    It's ok.

Don't lean on one thing such as the MBW to mean so much. It's just my opinion, I don't understand who got duped. Keep making, keep moving.

  6. you guys all signed papers saying that he owned the rights and could do whatever he wanted with the art that was in his space. none of you are probably smart enough to show the contract to your lawyer. you trusted a dude who is a known scam artist... most of the art looked like shit any way. the party was fun and im sorry you guys didnt get "invited". and just so you guys know... everyone at the party thought that MBW created all of the art himself for that party.

  7. Well, if your getting up outside of the MBW studio, you don't have much to worry about. Everyone by now knows what it is like dealing with this guy and it generally comes out controversial and seemingly underhanded. You signed the contract. I did. He can own that small snippet of space all he likes. He doesn't own my creativity or ideas. Oh nooo, the people at Google don't know who the anonymous xyz street artist I am! Get off your own nuts. People partied and had a good time around your creations right?

  8. The party was not fun unless ur into star-fucking and top40 music you geek. It was a PROMO party meaning all involved were there for their jobs and networking on ALL levels. If you went there solely to hang out at a party then ur a fucking loser tag along TMZ lover.
And as far as redtape- Google and Tmobile dealt with those details for their party and Thierry is responsible for the details for Artshow2011. BIG difference when a corporation already has resources set up for this kind of thing and a staff that does JUST THAT ALONE. They dont fall into the same category as an individual artist, rich or not, as far as planning and city official dealings. Its Corporate-WAAAAY different. Cant wait til he has his show, then what will the sour grapes say?? Seriously, what?
