So, M&F started doing a simple thing that has been fun the few times we've tried it.  Instead of just snapping pictures of people walking by street art, sometimes we will ask the people to pose in front of it.

Like here, this dude was trying to creep through the photo but when we asked him, he was more than happy to strike a few poses.  Dig it.  Like the Morley paster says, you are invincible, bro!

How Far Before Everything Becomes Something Else?

Fresh new piece from Morley pasted up behind Melrose.

This one features Morley asking, 'How far do we have to drive before everything becomes something else?'  Dig it on many levels.

But the cool thing about living in Los Angeles, is that on an actual level you don't have to drive very far, and there are many worlds, everything from surfing to skiing, within the 500 square miles of Los Angeles.  Something else is a short drive away here.  Maybe that's one reason people love Los Angeles.

Morley - A True Street Artist

Morley has received some acclaim in the form of a community project and TV exposure.  But M&F's favorite thing about Morley is how despite all the accolades, Morley is, and always has been, a street artist who has stayed true to the streets.

M&F has said it before and will say it again, Morley gets up more than most in LA, and he is one of the few street artists venturing onto illegal construction turf with graffiti writers, like at this hot spot on the other side of the fence on Sunset.

Morley's piece says 'When they lay my bones in the ground, let them say I left no dream to whither unchased.'

Morley Featured on TV -- Again!

Morley just got a cameo feature on another television show.  Once would be a huge honor for any artist, but this is the 2nd time a show has gone live on air with a Morley piece on TV.

The first Morley television piece was a few years ago on Workaholics--which turned out to be a hilarious show.  This new Morley spotting is on a new TV show from Amazon called Betas.  That's right, Amazon is making TV shows now.  If Betas turns out like Workaholics, it might be wise to start keeping an eye out for a Morley piece as a sign of a hit TV show.

Morley Goes 'Inside Out' with Bicycle Artist

Morley just had the opporunity to work on a fun community project with children and teaching them the wheat paste process.  Morley also provided an inspiring quote to go along with the posters which can be read below.

This is yet another example of how this current generation of street art is geared towards 'community'.

Because even if Morley's words could be rewritten, it wouldn't improve on what is there, so here is Morley's detail of the event taken from his website, with more photos and Morley at IAmMorley:

I was asked by the lovely organizers in charge of Bicycle Artist, (a group that works to encourage creative expression for kids and their families through a variety of artistic mediums) to help them with their latest event. Working with JR's Inside Out Project, they created 45 posters, measuring 135 feet, and reached out to me to give a brief lesson to the group about street art and the wheat paste process. They also asked me to contribute some words in the theme of "peace love and understanding" that could accompany the posters. This spot in Korea Town was set up just for the project (with permission and everything, always a rare treat). After showing them how to put up a poster, I watched the group get to work. It was quite an inspiring day.

The piece I wrote:

THIS IS OUR HOME: OUR SUN, OUR STARS, OUR SKY. THIS IS OUR CALM, THIS IS OUR STORM. THIS IS OUR PROGRESS, OUR DISTANCE, OUR GIFT, OUR CHALLENGE, OUR POTENTIAL, OUR RESPONSIBILITY, OUR TODAY, OUR TOMORROW. THIS IS OUR "RIGHT NOW." LET'S FACE IT TOGETHER.

Morley Is Stuck Up

Haha.  Morley is not stuck up.  He seems to be a very cool dude with an witty and approachable spin on life.  But this Morley sticker is stuck up, in Los Angeles.

Morley started out doing stickers before he introduced the name Morley or the whole aesthetic.  The stickers were just see through vinyl with street poetry words.  Now, Morley puts up his signature wheat pastes all over Los Angeles, but this is one of the first stickers--in fact, believe it is the first sticker that we have seen on the streets showing Morley with his name and aesthetic.  This has Morley's classic line saying 'Let's fall in love like both our parents aren't divorced'.

Coincidentally enough, this sticker was spotted on Vermont, a short distance from where M&F first spotted one of Morley's early wheat pastes.

Morley - Its a Stick-Up

LA's own Morley has been invited to be part of an upcoming street art book with an international line-up.

The book is entitled 'Its a Stick-Up'.  M&F is told that, "Twenty wheat paste artists are featured, each contributing a poster which is included and perforated at the edge for easy removal."  Other than Morley, the other artists included are 36REcyclab, A.CE, Br1, Cake, Dale Grimshaw, Pure Evil, Feral Child, EMA, Gabriel Specter, Hin, Paul Insect, Kid Acne, Dain, Ludo, Monssieur Qui, Pablo Delgado, SHN, WK Interact and an interview with Sten and Lex.

Cool angle for fans of street art who buy the book to actually get a wheat paste from the artists.  And big congrats to Morley for being included in the book.

The book doesn't release until May 21st but you can pre-order your copy now from Amazon.

Morley Medals - Thanks for Being a Real Person (and Not an Asshole All the Time!)

Morley just made a video for a fun new project entitled the 'Morley Medals'.

The medals were designed not only to reward people for good behavior, but with the goal of inspiring people behave better.  Fun concept, and from the looks of the video it looks like everyone, including Morley, had fun doing this.

Bumboy is Bringing the Jackhammer

New paster from Bumboy WC saying 'If society is crumbling, I brought the Jack Hammer'.

The piece is an obvious riff off of Morley's aesthetic and style.   Not sure what the intended meaning of this piece is.  Some might see it as a compliment, while others might interpret it as less than flattering.

But the act of re-interpreting street pieces seems very much like when different artists put their own spin on Obey's iconic Andre the Giant stickers.

They're Almost Always Wrong (When Their Pants Are On the Ground)

Funny story.  As M&F approached this intersection with a Morley piece, we were driving in the car and had a green light.  However, the homeless man with the cart had pushed it out into the middle of the road, essentially stopping traffic.  So we stopped the car and honked at the dude, and in response the guy dropped his pants to the ground and mooned us.  It was a full moon during broad daylight.

In the time it took us to grab the camera and turn it on to take a picture, the dude had pulled his pants over his bare butt, but you can still see how his pants are hitched at an unusual angle.

All taking place in front of the aptly placed poster from Morley saying 'They're Almost Always Wrong'.  And one under that saying 'You have dumb friends'.

Keep your pants up!

Stay Up and Keep Wielding

Morley gets capped over with some graffiti from Eench.

Morley's original piece said 'Wield Those Weary Bones'.  Eench changed it to say 'Wield those weak quotes'.

Don't dig it.

Morley is doing his own thing and forging a path with his own brand of street art.  What he is doing has not been done before and there will be some bumps in the road.  Not everyone will appreciate any form of genius, but these are not quotes, Morley's street pieces are original street poems.

Morley's Valentine's Day Cards

Morley brings it back old school once again.

In celebration of Valentine's Day, Morley has just released a new series of cards reminiscent of the ones that kids used to give each other growing up.  Seeing these from Morley took us back to the excitement of that day, and how we used to feel around each sealed envelope to guess what candy goodness was inside.

These cards from Morley take that classic feeling and put a new spin on the sentiment.  We especially enjoy the Imperfection one and the Co-Worker card.

Dig it.  The way Morley keeps bringing it back, he is making a name as the King of Nostalgia~
