Banksy Gets Saved!
Another Banksy gets boarded up, but this time its to protect it. Click the jump for more
Banksy's Crayon House Foreclosure got covered today - with plexiglass.
The owner of the building wants to preserve the Banksy piece and possibly sell it. And in the meantime, to protect it, he put up a layer of plexiglass in front of the piece.
We really like to see this proactive stance to preserve a Banksy piece, and hopefully this will work. It would be awesome if it could even be kept on display like this.
Big thanks to Dennis for sending in these timely shots. Way to be the man on the spot!

the Peace + Heart Doctor banksy did in san francisco chinatown has plexiglass over it aswell. with a sign next to it saying they wanna preserve it so people can enjoy the art.
ReplyDeleteI just know since they put this up something is bound to happen next....this is seriously getting out of hand.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know where this piece of art is? I went to the address that was given a few days back. Around 1500 Washington Blvd. But i couldn't find it. Any tips? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteC.
Washington & Compton, NW corner in the vacant dirt lot. I was there last night.
ReplyDeleteI spoke with the owners of the building. They're trying really hard to save the piece for everyone to see, not to benefit personally from it. Before they could arrange the plexiglass, they paid to have a security guard protect it overnight. They've reached out to some of the major LA museums to see if they could donate it -- and they're awaiting responses. They're pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteTry 1551 E Washington blvd., Los Angeles, ca 90022
ReplyDelete:)
1549 E. washington Blvd. talked with this lady yesterday morning at 945am, i told her to preserve this work for us, the broke and handsome residents of Los Angeles, you never know who you reach with words, Phyllis is the a woman that had the blue Pruis, she was shocked and pleased with so many people flocking for a Banksy, bravo, and bless you.
ReplyDeletethanks for the response regarding the exact location on this one. I was waaaaaay off the other night lol. I was looking all over Washington and Vermont. But anways, thanks!
ReplyDeleteNow after this one, must find the one with the Caution sign. Can't find this one either, but if anyone has any leads, GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!
