Teacher - VFX not Vandal
Teacher just completed another custom series of spray cans. Like Teacher's earlier giant ebox, hese are meant to show solidarity with the VFX movement in Hollywood. Teacher says its a crime what the special effects people get paid. And because of that cause, Teacher wanted to make sure and not vandalize with these pieces. Teacher is always brainstorming new ways of getting up, and so he invented a novel method to place cans on the streets. Teacher's method cuts a whole through the bottom of a can (don't try this at home kids, cause unless it is depressurized first it will explode!) thereby creating a way to get up with no vandalism done to the streets themselves.
Teacher also invented this new logo displayed on the spray can for the VFX movement.
Dig it~

65k a year is an issue?
ReplyDeleteBBMC
....for 80+ hour work weeks and no benefits or job security? Yes, it is an issue.
DeleteObviously you know nothing of the film industry.
DeleteRobert Downey Junior got about $50 mil from Avengers, and they paid less than a million TOTAL to all their VFX artists combined.
So yes, when someone who works for 3 months get paid 50 times an entire team that works for 6 months (12-14 hour days) it is an issue.
Now figure out how many months you worked and how many hours you actually worked versus what you were paid (i.e you may not be paid for all hours worked and may or may not be paid for overtime). Subtract the cost of health care coverage and pension since none of that's covered when not working and may not even be covered when working. Subtract vacation time since that's not covered and sick days. Now compare that to someone working at a regular full time job. Now compare it against 100's of millions of dollars in profits for the work the person did, the money paid to the actors and the dollars from residuals everyone makes except the vfx artists.
ReplyDeleteThe rates for younger and or newer artists are being driven down. Not to mention the months in between looking for another job that can often occur due to unwillingness to relocate across the globe. Not everyone Is rolling in money. Besides what do you do with all that money when there is no such thing as leisure time when you work in the vfx industry.
ReplyDeleteAlso I think its the distribution of wealth issue at play here. Movies go on to make billions and the directors and actors and Studios reap the rewards of the hard work done by the VFX shops.
And the Reality Is the old Hollywood model is dying. Creative dont need the Conglomerate hollywood media complex to distribute creative content. That is why they are scrambling to take the freedom of the internet away.
I say creatives drop Hollywood and look to the future of the internet. There are people already making money on youtube. We just have to be watchful that the corporations dont steal the internet away. Ok Im done.
#FirstWorldProblems
ReplyDeleteSo then we should just forget about everything that is a first world problem?
