Fuck Advertisers! - Lister Gets Covered
This is the kind of stuff that is pure bullshit. Some lame movie, instead of paying for advertising space, puts up these illicit posters. But what is so bad about this particular instance, is that the movie ads covered right over a gorgeous hand painted piece by Australian 'big name' street artist Anthony Lister. The only thing remaining is the stroke of rainbows on the white wall. Lister's original mural can be viewed HERE.
We've said it before and we'll say reassert it now, the biggest threat to street art is corporate advertisers.
Feels like the city has lost a priceless piece of art, just to have some more otherwise negligible advert stuffed down our faces. This really sucks.

Actually, the movie paid for the ad space,
ReplyDeleteso they can do what they want with it.
^this is not a paid advertising space. the posters are illegal, as is the 'street art'
ReplyDeletethe same company that put up the Lister work put these up...time is money and spots are spots
ReplyDeleteIt's not a movie, it's a rave.

So glad I snapped pictures of it before it left. I also met Lister that afternoon in front of his gallery. My favorite day so far this month
ReplyDeletemaybe if he weren't a rude artist and individual who goes over other people's work when they have permission to paint there in the first place, this would not happen to him.
