A Closer Look at Banksy's Bronx Zoo

Here is a closer look at Banksy's Bronx Zoo graffiti leopard.

This location was listed on Banksy's website as Yankee Stadium, but this is not on the stadium itself, but right across the street.

The blue background and fierce spirit of this piece seems to make it a favorite amongst many fans. But perhaps the larger point that Banksy is trying to make by waiting all day to reveal this piece is that just like in the jungle, the wild cats are still blending in.

C'mon New York. After a full month of Banksy and this piece did not get spotted on the streets all day!? Big time fail. Banksy has opened eyes during Better Out Than In, but apparently still not enough to notice everything unusual in the Big Apple.

Catching Tags Around Banksy's 'Ghetto 4 Life'

NOTE -- M&F started writing this story the morning that Banksy's Ghetto 4 Life got revealed. Out of all of Banksy's pieces, the tags around this particular stencil seemed to compliment the art. We were hoping that more would happen.

But before the tagging could take place, the Ghetto 4 Life mural got covered up with a roller AND plexiglass--the most protection any Banksy mural has received.

Eh, Maybe a Little Less Permanent and Prominent

Getting up on the streets is all about finding your groove in a crazy scene.  There are no rules, but there are certain ways of doing things.  It is said there is a code of conduct among thieves.  Well, vandals have their own set of unofficial rules.

One is that you don't cap over something.  And another less common rule might be -- don't plaster permanent shit on buildings.  At least not when you are starting out.

Like here.  First of all, props to anyone who is doing art, but there is a difference between street art and elementary art.  This looks like a play-doh project from 2nd grade--that now got permanently affixed to this wall on Melrose.  Sure, going over tags is poor form, but in the long run, even if this wall gets buffed, the clay is much harder to get off.

M&F has always been a fan of anyone getting up, but also a supporter of doing it the right way. Sure, there is a place for this whale. There is a place for everything.  Find your groove.  But it is not here, on this wall.  Maybe a back alley, or a quaint little corner. Then it would be charming, instead of annoying.
