Hooked Up - Taki 183
We got hooked up with a hand tagged sticker from one of the earliest names in the game, Taki 183. Click the jump for more, and to see Taki 183 with Banksy.
We met Taki 183 at MOCA's press day. He was one of the earliest writers, or taggers, in New York City, and is credited as being one of the first big names to go city wide.
Even though the culture views him as somewhat of a Godfather, he has not been involved with the graffiti world, or the art world in years. He said that this was the first art show he had ever been to. His passion is cars now, and interestingly enough, he said that he doesn't really feel that tagging is art.
This is Taki 183 pictured below in the green shirt standing in front of Banksy. He was not what we had pictured, but most artists seldom are. Its a real mystery who does what, and that's part of the fun.
Thanks for the hook up, Taki 183, and for doing what you did to start the movement that has now become so big. Respect~
