LA is the Home of Street Art, and the Home of Street Art being Stolen ***UPDATE***

Los Angeles is claiming its place as the top spot in the world for street art. It is also earning a name as the top place for street art being stolen, and this new Space Invader that just went up in Culver City is now gone missing.

It seems the piece only lasted a day.

Interesting how they got this piece off the wall, since Invader is known to use uber-strength cement bonded sealant to put his pieces up.

And we are curious as to why take this piece, period? Once it is taken off the wall, since there is no backing for the whole piece, all that is left is a stack of tiles. Sure, you can say that it is a Space Invader, but so could anyone after a trip to Home Depot.

Still, keep your eyes peeled on Ebay for this to show up.

**UPDATED: with close up pic of the taken piece.**

***Big thanks to Photos By Hunter for sending in these up to the minute shots***

  3. Rumor has it that Banksy shipped his work to LA and is not here at this time.

  4. I'm going to throw this out there...not sure that this and the previous one were actually by Invader. The locations don't seem like places that he would hit, and that the invaders were the only part of the piece, and not set in with other tiles around them give me some doubts.

I could be completely wrong, though.

  8. Invader does not always surround the character with background tiles.
That piece has been repeated in different colors many times by Invader so no doubts are necessary. As well as the fact that he actually is here for the show.

  10. Another Invader was taken. It was the navy blue, white and light blue one on the steel/rusted parking structure directly across from the MOCA entrance. I walked by it today and noticed that it was pried off.
