BanksyNY - What If . . . .
Banksy's Canvas Stall Public Interaction at Central Park has left Banksy fans feeling all kinds of queasy.
The canvases that Banksy was selling were listed at $60/apiece, but in the art world they have been valued at $31,000/apiece.
This whole scenario has left a lot of people sick to their stomachs with a belly ache like a giant missed opportunity. The fact that owning a Banksy piece is completely out of reach for most Banksy fans accompanied with the fact that the canvas originals offered for sale on the streets were presented in such an open manner and for such an attainable price that it has people questioning--what they would have done?
This might be the most poignant Banksy piece yet. This installation was not about religious wrongs, or war, or animal abuse--it was about money. Which begs the question, is money the true God in Western culture?
So, what if you had walked past Banksy's stall? Would fans have recognized the originals? Or walked past the art stall complaining about bootlegs and knockoffs? Would you have bought a painting? How many? If so, would you keep it? Furthermore, what does this say about prices in the art world if a canvas valued at $31,000 doesn't sell on the streets for $60?
Everybody has a 'What If'. So, what if if it you had a chance to walk by Banksy's Original Canvas Stall. What would you have done?

BanksyNY Turns the Art World on Its Head
Bwahahahahaaa! LOVE today's piece from Banksy!
Banksy turns the art world upside down by setting up a sidewalk stall and selling 100% authentic original signed Banksy canvases for $60.
Every person in the world wants a Banksy and dreams of having one, right? So guess how many sold? 8 canvases were sold, for a daily grand total of $420. Two canvases were even haggled for at half price.
Incredible piece from Banksy. Turning canvas art into performance art.
This demonstration shows how the art world is completely subjective. Things in the art world only have value when someone says they have value.
Awesome stuff. Please note, Banksy states that the art stall will not be there again today.

No Brits at Brit Week
The festivities for Britweek went down last weekend in Santa Monica. But as far as the street art was concerned, there were no Brits at Briweek (and technically no street art, either).
Two famous British graffiti artists Eine and Inkie were supposed to show up, but neither did. Instead, it was only LA based Mear One and Man One painting canvases on the street.
M&F's on the scene correspondent/contributor Bill said that the Brit Week street art scene was disappointing. He described it like this: "So we have Man One and Mear One doing canvases. It was typical "Downtown Santa Monica, Inc." No signage as to who was who or what was what. No background info. No stickers No handouts. Man One had left and Mear One was on a break. The woman who was hanging around the exhibit didn't know crap about what was going on - or care."
It seems surprising that since Downtown Santa Monica was a primary sponsor yet the street art was painted on canvases and not on walls. Bill joked that Santa Monica should have stuck with Cinco de Mayo, instead.

Teacher - Art is a Lifestyle
Teacher doesn't just do art. Teacher lives his art.
Literally. Teacher's life is his art, and the things he paints are from his immediate world.
Like this new series. Here are a couple of new paintings from that feature his own children. This piece blends street art and fine art seamlessly Teach has hit the streets with the black and white pictures in the background, and in full color up front are actual portraits of his two children.
These paintings are a gift to Teacher's amazing wife for her birthday.
Dig it. For Teacher, art is a lifestyle~
