Free Humanity Breaks Down CheObama- UPDATE!

Free explained the idea behind CheObama to M&F

We had always assumed that Free Humanity's CheObama piece was about capturing the revolutionary flair that was in the air towards the end of the Bush Presidency. The people wanted change, and this piece seemed to represent that.

But Free told us that was not so much the intended message, as it was a commentary on the played out status of Che's being revolutionary. According to Free, Che's revolution was not necessarily a good thing and killed a lot of people and so has Obama, and that's what he was trying to show.

Obama swept into the presidency under the banner of peace. He pledged to close Guantanamo and end the wars, but instead we have become more entrenched.

And another image associated with Che's revolution is a clenched fist. And Free took that fist and placed a missile in the hand (pictured on the top of CheObama's cap) as if to say that the cost of revolution also brings death.

Up with Free's Jabba the Hut piece saying 'Greed is Good'.

Free had really impressive versions of both of these pieces at his show last week, covered with a resin glaze.

Keep bringin the revolution!
