Home Is Where The Art Is

Banksy?

No, not Banksy. This is a timely piece from Subtle that refers to Banksy's 'This Looks A Bit Like An Elephant'. More specifically, it is commentary on Tachowa Convington, a 'homeless' many who had been living in the water tanker for more than a decade. This piece was placed in front of the new water tanker that resides where the 'Elephant' did, before it was taken away.

Tachowa's story just resurfaced last week , and right on the heels this piece from Subtle appeared.

The piece itself is a full 6 foot cut out of the figure, next to a house that is very similar to the house Banksy used in his 'Crayon House Forclosure', and this piece even has 3d wood cut outs on the doors. Very impressive piece of art. And a lot of people try to get up with Banksy or have a conversation with him, but this piece, and the previous ones from Subtle seem like some of the only ones that are worthy, or on a similar cognitive level of conversation.

And the title of this piece is especially poignant since Tachowa had pieces of home made art hanging inside the elephant.

Cool piece of art with a cool thing to say.

And last we heard about Tachowa, he was set up in a nearby hotel. How? It is not quite clear. Maybe Banksy?

  2. Tachow didn't own the tanker any more than someone owns a storefront doorway.

    Nice work but weak thinking.
