MOCA's 'Art In The Streets' Had Biggest Attendance EVER
Street art has arrived, and the museum world needs to recognize the power, as MOCA's 'Art In The Streets' drew record breaking attendance, both for the biggest single day, and for any single show, ever.
MOCA just released that the street art and graffiti show, 'Art In The Streets' drew 201,352 visitors, the most of any show, ever. And it had the largest single day attendance as well, with 8,424 visitors attending on the closing day of the show.
Attendance for the show was made easier by Banksy's sponsorship of Free Mondays at MOCA, and the attendance on those days was double the average days for the rest of the week.
The attendance records are just another example of how strong street art and graffiti are and they are at the center of the biggest art movement in a generation, if not more.
The show was supposed to move on to New York, but its a shame that NY seemed to has lost its balls and backed out of hosting the show.
We've always felt that the best street art is in the streets, but it was really cool having 'Art In The Streets' come to Los Angeles, and we congratulate the Museum and everyone involved on the record breaking success~
