Teach Peace -- Thrashbird Style!

Teacher and Thrashbird team up on an impressive billboard takeover. The piece features a modified billboard with Thor now saying 'Teach Peace -- Thrashbird Style!'.

As if bombing a billboard in Hollywood weren't impressive enough, there are two things that are particularly noteworthy about this particular takeover.  First, notice the life size model on the billboard, posed as if trying to snap a cell phone picture of Thor.  Nice work, and also crazy to see the how tiny the actual is when compared to a billboard.  The other thing is the screen on the cell phone. Even though it looks like it, its not a real cell phone, Teacher actually painted the screen image! Dang! Talk about attention to the smallest detail on a massive scale.

If you want to see this piece in person, you can catch it along the way to Bankrupt Slut's show tonight in Burbank because this piece is on Cahuenga Blvd.

Dig it. Stay up!

Ride Her or the Horse?

Crazy piece getting up on Melrose.  This started out as a newspaper ad modification by Thrashbird, and then the horse got a crazy new shoe-eating head from CruArt.

Wildness.  Who would you ride, her or the horse?  M&F would like to mount both, in different ways~

The Walking Dead Thrashbird

Billboard takeover by Thrashbird.

Dig how Thrashbird interacts with the billboard, making the message his.

Dirt Cobain also tagged and slapped a couple of pasters up there, but they do not interact with the piece.  They are just there.

The difference really points out the difference between using the streets to make a statement opposed to just slapping shit up.  Not that there is anything wrong with either, just one is clearly on an elevated level.

Return of the Mummies!

Street art on Melrose with the return of the sheep from Ricky Sencion.

Also, Thrashbird is capping back and holding down a spot after getting capped by Combo.

It also looks like a hand painted piece got capped in the process?

TBD & Thrashbird

Ever since the artwork first started showing up, rumors have been circulating that TBD and Thrashbird and one and the same artist.

Still, the artist or artists compromising TBD and Thrashbird have wanted to keep things separate.

TBD and Thrashbird each has its own aesthetic, with TBD more photo-oriented and Thrashbird focusing more on stencils.  But bottom line, both TBD and Thrashbird are two of the most active artists up on the streets of LA.  Combine the work of the two together, and there really is no one who has gotten up as much in LA over the past year or so.  (including Phone Jacks!).

M&F chooses to indulge the idea that these two are separate, because that's what the artist wants.  Just like with Banksy, sometimes the romance can be more fun than the truth.  But perhaps that line is blurring, as the two are getting up at shared spots like never before, and the one pictured in this feature.

Stay up!

Lovely Ladies, Never Mind the Adam's Apples

A new multi-colored stencil featuring 3 men dressed in drag as women (at least think so!).  Right next to a fully cocked tranny from Thrashbird.

From Street Art Without Borders.  Dig the piece, and cool name, but street art does have some borders, such as generally trying to respect the art work of other artists.  However, the 3 ladies got placed over two and a half pasters from TBD.  Great name, but respect the street art borders!

Self Buffed

After seeing how folks got their underpants all up in a bunch over his naked trans-gender pasters, Thrashbird puts some commentary back on the streets which what look to be like self-censored, or, since its the streets, self-buffed versions of chicks with dicks.

Get Up, Stay Up! (and Interactive!)

Cruart has been doing some really cool street art interactions on the streets recently.  Some artists will cap a head over another artists head and call that a collaboration.  But as M&F has pointed out before, generally the first artist does not see it as a collaboration but as a cap, even if it was not intended that way.

Well, Cruart has taken street art interactions to the next level.  Instead of just placing art over another piece as an 'interaction', Cruart has gone and form cut pieces to work with and around previously riding street pieces.  Like here.  Notice how Cruart cut around the letters of Thrashbird's name while adding a hair and flower blossom boner to the character.

Pun intended, stay up!  And stay interactive!~

Stylin' and Anti-Profilin'

Another one of Thrashbird's dress wearing dudes pasted up and then tagged over on La Brea.

Stylin' and anti-profilin'.

If you are in Hollywood, Thrashbird's solo art exhibition opens tonight!
