Piss on This
LA still has plenty of street art dogs pissing. Like here, on Melrose, this dog from Sebastian Walker marks its territory on this pole.

The Butt-Crack Vandal Tags Over a Banksy!
M&F has named a few street artists, so we thought we'd take a crack at nameing this dude.
This guy just posted a series of himself tagging at Banksy's 'You Complete Me' piece. The dude actually tagged 'My 1st Tag was a Bansy'.
Oh man. M&F has said many times how the fame hounds who tag Banksy's pieces are not true writers and or taggers, or even artists. They are doing it because the cannot build their own fame themselves. So riding on Banksy's coat tails is the best they can do. Shame they have to ruin a Banksy in the process.
But the fact that this guy spelt Banksy's name wrong doesn't get any funnier!

Banksy has a Piss Fetish, and Is Getting a Lil' Sloppy
Check it! Correction. The peeing dog on a hydrant is Banksy.
It appears that Banksy has somewhat of a pee fetish, and he keeps leaving his mark in different cities like a dog peeing. Dig it. The act of pissing to mark territory is an instinctual animalistic element that drives graffiti. Its like liquid, scent based tagging.
Yesterday, M&F speculated that this was not actually a Banksy. Not because the style of the stencil or the pee content itself, but because Banksy has done the dog peeing before, and before it was done better. To be honest, we don't really dig this one. Its the caption from the fire hydrant--'You complete me'. What's up with that? There are plenty of fire hydrants that are not in highly trafficked dog areas and don't get peed on much. Pee is not necessary for hydrants. Being generous, even if a particular fire hydrant had a pee fetish, it wouldn't say something like 'you complete me'. It would be something different and more dirty, like 'Golden Showers drain my secret powers'--lame, we know, but more to the point, right?
Okay. That's not all the drama surrounding this piece. This piece was confirmed on Banksy's website this morning and dated October 3rd. However, the piece was actually located on the streets yesterday. This is fueling speculation that Banksy is not out painting new pieces each night, instead, people are wondering if Banksy has already painted all the pieces, and just plans to reveal more. Are there more Banksy pieces already on the streets of NY?
Not only that, but on this one, Banksy got sloppy. The hydrant/dog piece was first spotted yesterday, but there was no phone number at first (check out the multiple pics confirming below). Then, later yesterday some time on the afternoon of October 2, somebody from Banksy's team visited the dog/hydrant and added a phone number linking to Banksy's phone walking art tour. Not sure why the phone number was left off originally, or why there was overspray on the phone number that was left, a novice mistake. Also, the phone number is listed as #2 even though this is the 3rd piece revealed by Banksy.
Finally, to sum up the action, the dog/hydrant piece has already been tagged by some fame hound (also pictured below).
Anyhoo, in M&F's in-expert opinion, from execution to the message itself, this is not one of Banksy's strongest pieces. When is Banksy going to bust out the big guns?
UPDATE: Banks(k)y is always poking fun of himself. If you listen to the audio recording by calling 1-800-656-4271 and pressing #2, you will hear Banksky offer many humorous suggestions about what the dog/hydrant piece might mean. Perhaps this was meant to be so low brow that it shot under the goal, and onto the hydrant.

Coast to Coast Unofficial Pest Control
M&F has to do this all the time in Los Angeles. Its like M&F is LA's unofficial Pest Control.
And here is a coast-to-coast attempt at Unofficial Pest Control. A lot of folks have spotted this image of a dog peeing on a hydrant, and the hydrant has a thought bubble saying 'You complete me'. Many people are suggesting that this might be a Banksy. There even appears to be a phone number below on the ground, indicating that this is from Banksy (pictured below). M&F thinks not.
It is unlikely that this hydrant piece is from Banksy. Banksy already claimed his dog pissing.

Piss & Street Art - Marking Territory
M&F always loves when the worlds of piss and street art collide.
Its because street art is rooted in human's natural animalistic desire to mark territory.
Yup.
Here is a homeless dude taking a big piss in front of a bankrupt slut from Bankrupt Slut and a Homer Simpson head from KYC.

Graffiti is like Pissing to Mark Territory
M&F has said it many times before, graffiti is a primal activity that is rooted in humans' animal instinct to mark territory. Its like an animal pissing.
Well, it might be redundant, but her is a shot combining both methods of marking territory. A golden shower of piss in front of tunnel graffiti next to the beach in Ventura County.
Remember, when it says 'Drains to Ocean', this is where it ends up. And no matter where you go in California, someone has probably marked territory there one way or another.
Drain your thang. Enjoy the pics. You are welcome~

"I'm Looking at the Lady Behind You Peeing"
Never know what you're gonna see on the streets.
As M&F came around the corner of this street art spot on Melrose, we noticed a trickle of liquid rolling down from the alley way towards the street. When we looked up, we saw this woman squatting down taking a piss in the alley way.
We thought this moment was fascinating for many reasons. First of all, the spot is right out in the open, and there are more discreet options around, even if you are choosing to pee outside. But, more importantly, street art and graffiti often get compared to the primal act of pissing to mark territory. Well, here is someone on the streets actually marking territory with piss.
So we took our camera out to document this moment, when the guy presiding over the woman peeing turned towards us aggressively and demanded "Hey! What are you looking at!?"
The truth is usually the best option, so M&F told him "I'm looking at the lady behind you peeing."
The guy smiled and laughed and said with a semi-toothless grin "Hope you got some good pictures!"

BEST of BANKSY on MELROSEandFAIRFAX

MELROSEandFAIRFAX has been at the forefront of all the Banksy action in LA. In fact, we think we were the first internet source to post all four pieces and have had the exclusive jump on the action that has happened since.
It all started with a tip we received on the blog we hunted down Banksy's Crayon Soldier. We didn't know anything about Lauren Conrad's tweet at the time, like most internet sources, and even though she technically had the inside scoop, we were the first to launch the initial pics of Banksy's Crayon Soldier.
Before the thrill of the first Banksy had even worn off, we were tipped off on another Banksy- the Charlie Brown on Sunset, and we rushed over to take the first pics, and put QtipTheCat in the pics for good measure.
On the way home from Charlie, we snapped pics of what we thought at the time was just another impressive graffiti billboard takeover and posted them that same night. We were the first ones in the world to post these images, but had no idea that 'Livin the Dream' was Banksy at the time. The next day Banksy posted the images on his website and word got out that the billboard was a Banksy.
We had hardly got done posting that the billboard was indeed a Banksy when a viewer submitted pics of the pissing Bulldog. We blasted the pics out there not sure at the time whether it was a Banksy or not. It was, and we locked down the position of being the first internet source to cover each of Banksy's four new pieces in Los Angeles.
It has been a wild ride that did not stop with the discovery but led on to Charlie being boarded up, and then uncovered and drilled, and finally removed and put on ebay.
As if that weren't drama enough, Livin the Dream got taken down and respectable folks almost came to fists fighting over it.
And aside from all the pieces themselves, there have been all kinds of great community stories including rumors about other pieces by Banksy, Banksy getting spot-jacked, stories of dedication from the legions of Banksy fans, street art dedicated to Banksy's street art, not to mention good dialogue on the topic of street art.
But perhaps the coolest thing has been the way the community has flocked to MELROSEandFAIRFAX for the latest breaking news on Banksy, and not only find out about what's happening, but contribute to the making the story itself and submitting, what we believe to be exclusive shots of Banksy's Crayon Soldier before it was buffed.
It has been a wild ride, and we have only managed 10 hours of sleep the last 3 nights combined. It has been well worth it, and we have loved every moment of this chase. Huge thanks to all the viewers, followers, and contributors who have made all this magic happen!
And our personal guess is that there might be a new crop of Banksy street art in Los Angeles after the Oscars are awarded. Win or lose, we expect to see something. (But c'mon, no doubt Banksy is going to win! When is the last time people were talking about the award so much?)
Keep checking back to MELROSEandFAIRFAX for the latest, greatest breaking news on Banksy in LA.

Darkcloud is Bootylicious -This One's for Smear!
In light of Smear's recent interview on TheDirtFloor , we were inspired to pay homage to some BBW.
When it comes to big girls, there's just more of them to love, and the bigger the cushion, the better the pushin!
Here is some bootylicious-ness right here behind this Darkcloud sticker at Venice Beach.
PS-Smear was pretty damn honest and candid in the interview, but if you want some more 'dirt' about how wild and crazy this dude really is, click the link below . . . and let me put a big 'WARNING!' in front of it . . .
