Hanging Out with Morley

M&F is shooting a brand new street art web series, and while shooting the first episode, we got a chance to hang out with one of the best spokesperson's for the genre, Morley. Morley has been getting up all over Los Angeles for a couple years now. And he has made a name on the streets with his prolific presence, as well as achieving quite of bit of success indoors, signing with one of the most prestigious street art firms in the world, Lazarides' Outiders division. We were thoroughly impressed with Morley and the things he had to say. Conversationally speaking, he guy is seriously one of the best 'speakers' we have ever had the pleasure of listening to. Morley has a real gift for being able to get right to the heart of an issue, and then develop his idea fluently. After seeing his art on the streets for so long, and reading the great stories on his website, we expected him to be good with words but in addition to the things he had to say we were especially impressed with with Morley's street art ethics when Morley spoke about what it means to get up, respecting the streets, and even pasting up fellow artist's work if he sees a corner peeling. Dig it~ Morley also explained that he does not put himself on his art for ego or as some sort of promotion. In fact, he said that the reason he ads his image to the pasters is to engage the viewer on a personal level and he refers not showing his face because he wants the focus to remain on the art. He says his favorite part of the art is when people have a personal relationship with one of his pieces, and they feel that it was meant for them in particular. Morley is working on an upcoming book and his first art show in Europe. Stay tuned for the video to hear all that Morley has to say from the man himself! Stay up!

  2. fun fact about Morley- one of his first cousins (he doesn't have many) lives an hour from him & is married to a Catholic priest (so probably can't afford a print- I like his stuff, though!)

  5. Uh....Catholic priests can't be married so I doubt that's true about his first cousin. Perhaps she's married to a protestant minister.
