The Wealth Disparity in this Country Should Be Paramount

Ramiro Gomez Jr. just placed a new piece in Hollywood.  M&F have been big fans of Ramiro's work as he uses his art to raise awareness to vital socio-political issues.  This piece focuses on wealth disparity, which, as Ramiro points out, should be addressed.  Read Ramiro's own words below:

I just placed this new piece up this morning in front of The Beverly Hills Hotel. With everything going on politically, I am frustrated on how little the public values the service workers and citizens working their days away in favor of the luxury and comforts that disposable income brings to the privileged few. There is a great wealth disparity in this country that in my opinion should be the topic of conversation, immigration statuses are trivial.

This cutout at the epitome of Hollywood Luxury is for every person in America who is working hard every day to achieve something that they probably never will, regardless of wether they are citizens or not.

Dig it.  Stay up!

  2. Be careful what you say about immigration statuses being trivial. You will loose a lot of support when you say things you're not knowledgeable about.

  3. Do you know how much harder it is to understand financial instruments than it is to use a leaf blower?

  4. I'm sorry but immigration status IS a bullshit issue!

The greatest threat to this nation is not somebody who scrubs toilets & trims hedges for $8/hr. It's the CEO'S of the banks who have systematically STOLEN OUR PENSIONS & RETIREMENT FUNDS, bilked people into signing fraudulent mortgages bankrupting millions, and redistributed all this wealth to those who don't need it!

  5. the artist I don't think is saying immigration statuses are trivial, he comes from immigrant parents afterall, it's that it's always the first thing that people will bring up. The ol divide and conque routine from the status quo. I can't pay my bills on time but people can stay at the beverly hills hotel and ignore me or pretend everything is ok? fuck that, go Ramiro!

  6. At least this art actually has a message, a theme, and is not a direct bite off of all of those "street artist" before him. I respect any artist that is trying to create a dialogue, discussion, or any communication regarding social issues. It means a lot more than 3 letters and a name, or repeating the same tired image. My interpretation of the work is that it is meant to attract attention and spotlight a group of people that make the city beautiful as servants for the wealthy. The fact that they are undocumented workers often is a truth, and a reality that most of us are fortunate enough to not have to understand.

  7. Interesting way of pointing out a problem. But if you really want to make a difference, offer a solution too.

  8. Ramiro is offering a solution. be like him. if congress was more like Ramiro there would be monuments honoring the people who are our heart and sole, inspiring young people to want to be those people instead of ignoring them, and taking care of them like equal human beings. if congress would make even a small fraction of the effort Ramiro makes, it would make a huge difference. be like Ramiro!!!

    1. I agree. I think congress should make cardboard cut-outs of themselves and put them in the bushes around their neighbourhoods. This would be a great first step in solving so, so many of their/our problems.
