Joseph Kony Street Art
New street art piece from Casio aimed at Joseph Kony. Joseph Kony is the leader of a Ugandan rebel group who has been accused of committing heinous crimes against humanity.
A 30 minute video chronicling Kony's atrocities was produced by a group called Invisibile Children. The movie has gone viral and has single handedly agitated the American public into pushing for military action to have Kony arrested and charged.
However, the movie also has its detractors, but most of the issues deal with the Invisible Children group, saying they spend more on their own offices than they do actively helping the people in Uganda. But none of the complaints seems to argue with what Kony has done.
This piece from Casio shows a stencil of a child warrior holding a gun and saying 'Product of Joseph Kony'. And, in larger text, 'I may be invisible, but my AK is not'.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. And, just like always, street art is right on the pulse of what is happening in the world.

ReplyDeleteGreat job, Casio! Keep it up!
ReplyDeletehey btw the Ugandan army to this day employs child soldiers, one of the main talking points they had as reason to go after him. Do your homework.
