Numbered Hearts
Love this little corner. It always has its own flavor.
It just got some new art with a hand drawn postal sticker featuring a heart with an arrow through it. It says 1015 and is numbered 6 out of 41.
Unknown artist.

Designer Con 2010
Free Humanity had a booth at Dcon sponsored by DKE toys.
He brought a full arsenal of Star Wars themed work, including a new Boba Fett chicken--as seen on The Family Guy.
^Joe Ledbetter signing at The Loyal Subjects' booth.
Followers of the blog--or people who drive on La Brea, will recognize the mammoth mammoth in the background from the Pico & Wilshire wheat paste.
TLS released a DesignerCon exclusive 'Lava' version of Pico & Wilshire, limited to 98 pieces worldwide. It might be too late to grab that, but you can still get your hands on the regular edition here.
THE LOYAL SUBJECTS STORE
^Urban Medium booth
Dcon had live painting--and even live models posing.
^Ronald Reagan figures by unknown artist. Dig the 'Nancy' ink on the back of The Gipper.
^Chubby Boob cars. We have documented their work on the streets
^Angry Woebots chase head from Silent Stage.
Yesterday we rolled out to Pasadena to check out DesignerCon.
DesignerCon is a smaller version of Comicon in San Diego.
There was all kinds of cool stuff, ranging from children's toys to the Suicide Girls. We especially enjoyed all the custom toys.
And it was awesome to see the throngs of fans supporting Dcon and low brow art. We have been for a few years in a row now, and every year just gets bigger.
Enjoy the pics~

Bankrupt Slut - Failing, But Succeeding At Something~
This pole in front of The Hundreds always has a lot of art on it.
The city came through and buffed it back to a blank canvas, leaving only two pieces to survive. Bankrupt Slut's 'It's Better to Fail at Originality than it is to Succeed In Imitation' and The Loyal Subjects' Magnus were the only two pieces left.
You can see the start of the brush stroke on the Bankrupt Slut piece.
Stay up and stay slutty~

Fortunately, one of these rabbits escaped extinction with prime placement high on the wall.
Still love the overall look, and especially the hand cut frame.
Anyone know the artist?
The rabbit and Magnus compliment each other well~

It seems that the paste that was used to put up The Loyal Subjects massive Pico & Wilshire piece had a chemical reaction with the paint on the wall.
Even though this piece is only a week old, it looks like it has been aging for decades.
We could tell that the piece was coming off, so MelroseandFairfax swung by the day after snapping the first 3 shots in hopes it had come off the wall and we could take it home. Unfortunately, we missed the piece being buffed by a few hours. We found the piece in a wet lump in the garbage and tried to salvage it, but it was beyond saving. The last pic documents the extinction of this Pico & Wilshire in the garbage, but hopefully we will see more of these guys around town.

The Loyal Subjects Go Big- Pico & Wilshire
The Loyal Subjects have been taking street art to the next level. Following a popular street campaign with Magnus the eagle, TLS takes it to the next level with a massive Pico & Wilshire full color wheatpaste on Melrose.
This piece is huge-over 10 feet tall. And what is especially impressive about this is the high quality print that was used. It is essentially a giclee print on the street.
If you're like us, you can only dream of having this piece at home. The good news is you can bring home your own Pico & Wilshire figures. Limited to only 415 pieces worldwide and featuring Joe Ledbetter's signature bold lines, they are up for pre-order now at The Loyal Subjects Website
MelroseandFairfax loves collectible designer art figures and we are really excited to see Pico & Wilshire on the streets and in soon in our homes!
