Before I Die I Want To . . .

What do you want to do before you die?

Well, it seems that the most common thing that people in Los Angeles want is to get rich.  But beyond that, there are some really cool writings on this board.

Some of our favorites are:

'Illegal and Unafraid'

'Make my mom proud! (and Rich!)'

'Create Sexual Freedom in This Country'

'Watch my daughter fulfill her dreams'

'Give back to those who gave to me'

'Change the world with words'

Indeed.  We are on board with all of these sentiments.

The Paint or Die Area

Here is a mural painted by Area, featuring the same skull imagery that has been pasted around downtown LA saying 'Paint or Die'.

Graffiti & Mormons - Street Art in Salt Lake City

MelroseandFairfax spent the last week in beautiful Salt Lake City, Utah.

We had a great time exploring the streets and documenting the street art there.

Salt Lake has a vibrant street art scene, with loads of graffiti, wheat pastes, a handful of stickers, and the coolest 'non-traditional' street art that we've seen.

The city brings its own flavor to street art. Much of it is packaged with religious overtones. We hit many of the city's hot spots and captured some really cool stuff.

MelroseandFairfax is happy to have a solid folder of 137 pics of street art in Salt Lake. We look forward to blasting Salt Lake's street art alongside LA, and will be mixing it up. (side note: Los Angeles has a strong influence on the art world everywhere-and one of the coolest pieces of art that everyone in Salt Lake was talking about was the mural downtown at Fice by LA-based artists Retna and El Mac~)

Graffiti in Victorville, California

Victorville knows whats up.

As MelroseandFairfax continues on our roadtrip, we've had the opportunity to see some graffiti in far off places. And even though Victorville is a small town, it appears to have a vibrant graffiti scene, much stronger than the town size would suggest.

We only drove the main strip (looking for gas- this is NOT the place to get gas, we drove the main strip from one end of town to the other and did not find a single gas station!?) but we did see a lot of graffiti, from big rooftop buildings, to throwie's on trucks, to tags and stickers. ITS really stood out with a strong paint and sticker game.

Enjoy the flics~
