Bradley Manning/Chelsea Manning - Crucified American Hero
Today is the memorial of 9/11. To honor this terrible day in American history, and as commentary on the current state of freedom and free speech in America, here is a piece from Teacher in support of American values like peace, liberty and justice.
The image shows whistleblower Bradley Manning with arms extended as if on an American cross and wearing a crown of stars instead of thorns. There are drips of blood dripping down from Manning's crown, as if to show how Manning got crucified for standing up for what he thought was right. This piece was hand painted by Teacher, using markers and acrylic. Impressive art work.
The imagery shows how Manning was crucified at his military trial. It was not a fair trial, and it provided a glaring example of why someone like Edward Snowden would not receive a fair trial either. How unfair was it? Manning was even prevented from arguing that his major motive for doing what he did was because he believed his actions were for the greater good.
Some people call Manning a traitor, but to the true Americans, Bradley Manning is a real life hero. Which side a person tends to be on depends on whether you think it is some things are wrong for anyone to do, or whether you think it is okay for some people to do wrong things. Manning was crucified for shedding light on major wrongs that the American military is creating around the world. It seems a better solution, and a better way to support freedom, would be to stop the atrocities, not prosecute the whistle blower.
It is unfortunate that after his conviction, Bradley Manning announced that he will now be pursuing a sex change and wants to be called Chelsea Manning. Manning's decision is unfortunate, not because of what he chose, which is fine if Manning wants, but because the circus surrounding Manning sex change took away from the issues raised by his actions and his conviction. However way Manning chooses to live her life or whatever Manning wants to be called from this point out is beside the point, Manning is already a great American Hero~
On this day in remembrance, it begs the question, when is a whistle blower going to release the files showing that 9/11 was also orchestrated by the government?

The NSA - Street Camera Spying Edition
Teacher and Plastic Jesus just collaborated on an amazing new street art installation aimed at the NSA's recent spying scandals. This piece features HUGE NSA cameras aimed at the people walking on the sidewalk. and a big arrow saying 'You Are Here'.
Dig this piece on many levels. Great message and impressive execution.
Stay up! (but remember--the NSA is spying on you!)

If You Aren't Worried About the NSA, Maybe Your Life is Too Boring?
More than half of Americans polled apparently don't think its a bad thing if the NSA is spying on and recording every single phone call, email and/or text you make.
As Benjamin Franklin famously said, 'Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety'.
Indeed.
And if you aren't more worried that the NSA is recording you, maybe your life is too boring?

Lose Your Phone? Don't Worry. NSA Has Your Info Backed Up~
Funny paster calling out the National Security Agency and its secret wire tapping and monitoring of internet and phone communications.
'Lose your phone? Didn't have your contacts backed up? Don't worry, the NSA has them all saved for you. (301) 688-6527.'
It sounds crazy, but its kind of true. If the NSA is saving everything, then they should have your info on file should you need it. Wonder if all you have to do is ask?
Anyone tried calling the phone number?

Edward Snowden - Man of Steel
Plastic Jesus hits the streets with a new Superman themed piece based on Edward Snowden, the NSA contractor who leaked the fact that the NSA is recording every single thing put online, every single phone call, and text.
The information that Snowden revealed will lead to arguably the largest privacy fight of the digital generation. However, instead of talking about the issues that Snowden raised, the mass media seems more focused on what his girlfriend looks like, and smearing his character. Snowden has taken it all in stride, and said that getting called a traitor by Dick Cheney is a back handed compliment. Indeed, it is.
Even if the mass media and the government itself gets upset when a citizen shows that what the government is doing is wrong, it takes a true man of steel to speak truth to power. Dig that Plastic Jesus gives Snowden this Superman treatment.
Big ups to Snowden for daring to risk his own safety to help all of America. Stay up!~

Crashed and Smashed
Don't know how many of our fans were effected by the massive TimeWarner internet outage earlier today.
The internet crashed and kept us from updating for a minute (after yesterday morning's local crash, we like to think it was because of everyone hitting the site to see artist of the year!) Lol.
Anyway, this dumpster in Westwood is smashed like we were earlier.
Hit up by Apple, NSA, JOR, ICR, Nosy, Difer, Nesi, OPS, Kargoe, Satch, MTA, Befor, The Fuck, and a few more.
