MOCA- The Safest Show On Earth

A new piece goes up on the art wall downtown, accusing MOCA's 'Art In The Streets' of being a circus, and 'the safest show on earth'.

We believe this new piece is from LA Raw.

And the point does have merit. When Jeffery Deitch buffed Blu's politically loaded mural, he essentially neutered the street credibility of the exhibition.

Which is not to say that the artists in the show haven't earned their spot in the museum show by earning it on the streets. They have and we are not saying that at all. We are saying that the public is only ready to accept graffiti and street art only if it is presented in a certain manner, and only when its 'safe'. Sure, the public enjoys graffiti and street art on t-shirts on advertising, but they still aren't ready for it when it actually says something relevant.

Also up with Enik, new Abscnt, and unknown artist.

  1. Why speak up if you can't say something relevant. Otherwise just sit on the sidelines and watch the adults play.

  3. MOCA is determined to make Street Art the NEXT 'Ed Hardy/Von Dutch' trend & sell it to Tweens & make a shitload of money! I wonder if there will be t-shirts, mugs, and keychains? Can't wait to see next years Jersey Shore! Lol!
