Year 1769: A Description of What is Now Los Angeles

Fascinating piece of street art entitled 'Year 1769: A Description of What is Now Los Angeles'.

We have often wondered what LA looked like before it was settled, and the description says, "Thru a pass between low hills, a spacious valley. Well grown w/ cotton wood and alders, among which ran a beautiful river."

Unknown artist.

Sounds beautiful~

  1. The description comes from the journals of Father Juan Crespi, a Spanish missionary. When he and the other Spanish explorers stayed in what would become Los Angeles, they felt three earthquakes.
