MELROSEandFAIRFAX just got a big new gig writing for the Huffington Post. Our first feature is a great interview with Xvala detailing the motivation behind his recent piece featuring naked Scarlett Johannson with hacked photos.

It is a huge honor writing for the Huffington Post. When we first started the blog, just to be on the Huffington Post was set up as one of our goals, and it still feels a bit surreal to actually be writing for them. Big thanks to Anna Almendrala for bringing us onto the Huffington Post team!

We will be writing regular blog features for the Huffington Post. The subject matter will generally be related to street art, but sometimes we plan to write on topics outside of this particular genre, so make sure to follow M&F on the Huffington Post.

This first article focuses on a recent hot story. Los Angeles based street artist Xvala recently made national news when he pasted some posters in public featuring leaked photos of a naked Scarlett Johansson. Even though Johansson's lawyers have threatened Xvala with a cease and desist letter, the artist is citing artistic freedom and has made clear he plans to keep working with the leaked images. Some, like Eonline, are suggesting that this might be merely a publicity stunt. However, Melrose and Fairfax just got an exclusive interview with Xvala for the Huffington Post, where the artist explains his 'disruptive innovation', his respect for 'users', and how 'Googling' the image itself is a modern work of art. The post also features the great photos of M&F contributor Jennifer Lee Strauss.
